Hi All,

I don't think I've actually introduced myself yet, even though I've done some posting already (gasp!).

I've been golfing all my life but have never really taken it seriously. That all changed when I got married – turns out my father in law is a golf nut (though curiously not a member of this forum - I guess still techno challenged) and basically said that in order to gain his approval I'd better get my butt in gear and learn how to play this game seriously. He gave me a two year grace period before starting to bug me about it, which ended last spring. I've played 15 rounds this season and am absolutely, irrevocably, gleefully addicted to this game.

I still suck - don't get me wrong, but all I need is a few good shots per round and I am a happy happy guy.

Anyway, the advice I've already received here is fantastic - y'all helped me purchase my first set of irons (Mizuno Trues – they DO feel like butter!) and am on my way to filling my bag with other quality clubs. I especially enjoy the Etiquette (http://www.torontogolfnuts.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5) section – a place where more newbie golfers should spend more time! This site is a truly great resource.

Thanks again

well for that I need to learn how to consistantly break a hundred - he's shooting in the high seventies...but I'm counting the days - and learning how to play mind games!

Welcome to the forum.

Seems like you got the kind of Father in Law one can only dream off. Well, right after dreaming about his daughter of course.

welcome slicendice.
i found the rules and etiquette section extremely edcuational AND entertaining.
for example, who knew that you weren't allowed to drive a power cart onto the tee box or the putting green?
