I think my putter is the most important club and yet it is the cheapest club in my bag.

Agreed. You use your putter for almost half your total shots per round so definately the most important club in my bag too. I didn't realize how important and what a difference feel and weight in a putter is. People spend $400-600 on drivers but you only use it 3-6 times per round...I wonder why people dont' fork out the $ for a good putter?

most important is my putter, followed by my wedges...

I would say that Irons are the most important.....you can live w/out your driver or fairway woods, but if you can't get onto the green in the first place what good is your putter?

Feel the Ping Craz-E. Many times I have to leave my ODYSSEY look-alike and use my friend's Craz-E to save some critical pars.

But besides the putter being the obvious choice I would also think that my wedges are my next choice. You can use if for so many different shots ranging from 110yrd to green side chips. How many times does an avergage golfer GIR? 7/14 maybe on a good day? If you're not on the green, then you're most likely chipping or pitching.

There is not that one important iron for me....anything from my 6-iron distance and in are all valuable....but my comfort level with distance on approach shots normally starts with 7-iron.

First time I've ever heard someone borrow someone else's putter! :) Normally if I just wanna make a good whack for the fun of it, I'll try out my friend's driver!

I have a tendency to top the ball even with today's 'big-head' drivers. I am afraid that I will scratch his driver.

Speaking from a lady's POV, I think my 3 wood and 9 wood are the most reliable clubs in my bag, followed by my 7 and 9 irons. But that's because I haven't invested in a decent putter yet. I agree that a putter is important. Does anyone have a recommendation? I am looking to buy a good mid-priced putter.

Whats important in a ladies bag? A cold beer for your man as he finishes his putt. A dry solf towel for your man to wipe off the sweat on his forehead. A big umbrella for your man, NOT you, as he walks under the blazing sun on the fairway...*snap*...what a dream!!! Dang...I think putters are probably the most personal club in the bag. You can use other peoples drivers or irons but putters are all about your personal preference. Try out your friends putters next time you play for a couple holes and see if you can find one that feels the best for you. Weight, lie angles, length, insert or no insert all make differences. Even the angle the hossle (shaft) is attached to your putter blade makes a difference. So go out to Golf Town and spend sometime on their greens and find your putter. Happy hunting!

I once spent hours in the putter area at Golf Town and my putting is significantly improved after the hours of practicing.
I tried one of the Paradise putter. The feel was good. It's only $50.

I would say that the reason why ppl don't fork out as much for their putter is because there's only so much a good putter can do to improve your game. A good expensive driver on the other hand, can make a huge difference with your distance and accuracy. Just speaking from experience, when I borrowed a friend's $600 driver, I consistently hit about 30 yards farther than with my own.

I agree.....generally the more expensive the driver, the bigger the difference I saw it with the same swing.......putters are somewhat diff't......

It's all about the bragging rights! Even though a driver is not the solely important club to improving one's total score.

agreed...most avg golfers would probably score better going irons off the tee, but as the saying goes "No guts, no glory!"
