I've seen pros light it up....for example in the most recent Ryder Cup......also Daly has been known to light it up a few times in skins matches....so if I see the pros do it......I don't see why we can't....:D

Its allowed...no rules stating its not, unless its a club rule...Daly is a regular smoker on tour...you just don't see it on TV...I don't see a problem with it, as long as you respect your fellow playing partners and dont' litter on the course.

Hello Mok. Did I golf with you yesterday at Pheasant Run? I don't think it is proper etiquette to ask for you actual name on this site.
In regards to smoking on the course, I believe that it is acceptable. I have been a Marshal at 2 Bell Canadian Opens and have seen lots of players smoking on the course. Actually, I saw one Oriental golfer (can't remember his name) smoking on the course and he had a pocket ashtray with him. Now that is respect for the course.
The next time you have an extra Cuban and want a playing partner, let me know.
To All: This is my first post on this site. I was golfing with two guys yesterday and they informed me about this site. I believe one of them (Mok??) is the system administrator. HELLO ALL!!!

Hidemichi Tanaka proably.
My opinion is that smoking on the course is fine. It was something that I loved doing prior to quitting. Smoking and golf just go hand in hand whether it be taking a break from whacking balls at the range or playing 18. Sigh.. it sucks that its so bad for you. The only thing is proper disposal of cigarette butts. There is NOTHING that ticks me off more than to brush butts off greens! Smoke em, but throw em out properly!

Go ahead and smoke, but make sure those butts are disposed of properly. I don't smoke, but once in a while some of the boyz will bring some cigars, it's kind of cool! I feel like Hannabal from the A-Team!

Just a side note on the smoking issue. I think all people who smoke must dispose of their "butts" properly.
A few years back playing a course (can't remember because of "old age"(36)) - we came down a long cartpath that opened to a meadow. it had been very dry for some time that year so there was quite a fire hazard. Well - next to the tee box the field was starting to smoulder. Being the concerned people we are we tried to extinguish it - one guy trying to "relieve" himself on it as other poured water bottles etc. It kept going until one guy grabs the ballwasher, carries it over and dumps it on it. Finally it was put out.
Butt out wherever you go - a fire could start and the course you are playing could theoretically burn down - not much fun.
Be careful! Butt out! & don't Bogart! :)

Keep in mind you can be disqualified from tournament play for leaving sunflower seeds on the greens. I assume butts would have the same result.:nono:

Not exactly an etiquette point, but file this under: **WARNING TO THOSE WHO DON'T SMOKE CIGARS REGULARLY**
Late last year I was playing a celebratory round with my business partner (don't remember why, must have closed a good deal or something).
Anyway...on the front 9 I shot my best 9 holes ever by at least 5 strokes - everything seemed to be going exactly as I was visualizing it. So, we tee off on the 10th and decide to break out the Cubans...well, before you know it, it's like I've had some Carl Spackler Bent ("This is a hybrid...a cross of, uh, bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and uh, Northern California Sensimila. The amazing stuff about this is that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejesus belt that night on the stuff.")
Wouldn't you know it...I shoot about 10 strokes over my average on the back 9 (which is usually the easier stretch) and come out with just an adequate round at best.
Lesson learned: beware the stogie headrush!!!

Of course it's allowed. Just make sure it doesn't bother your partners.
Smoked 2 Cohiba's at Shawneeki this weekend. Life is good...

Smoking on the course is O.K. but the pros do have some different rules. Quit a few still wear spikes. Try that at your course

I don't know of too many smokers who will leave their cigarette butts on the greens. Do you? Kind of a courtesy.

I personally don't like the smell of cigars or cigarettes. Don't see what the big deal is. Clean smelling, smoke-free men are so much sexier to me on or off the course.

Haven't come across any on the courses I play on. Maybe an ash or two from the guy who has a butt hanging out of his yap 24 /7. Anyone who leaves anythnig on the greens should ask themselves why they are even playing the game.

I don't smoke but if we're going to get into a discussion about what people do or don't do on putting greens, here's my take:
I'd prefer a green that was sprinkled with butts but had ZERO ball marks over a green with ZERO butts and 50 ball marks. Not fixing ball marks is as bad as tossing your butt on the green.

Add foot dragging and club marks to that list as well- I dont care if there are butts in the rough - but not on the green!
I dont know how many time i have come to a hole and the edge around the cup it just MANGLED! - idiots puting their putters in the cup to get their ball or not replacing the flag properly - thats just bugs me.
