I was just on the Clublink website at www.clublink.ca (http://www.clublink.ca/) and noticed that they have changed their membership at Rolling Hills. Rolling Hills is Clublinks last public course. Actually, I was a member there prior to joining a Private Clublink course. One of the deals they have now is if you join Rolling Hills, you get to golf 5 Private Courses as well.
For $1,275.00 you get the following:
28 rounds at Rolling Hills ( they have 3 courses there )
2 rounds at Station Creek North
2 rounds at Station Creek South
1 round at each of Highland Gate, Caledon Woods and Eagle Ridge.
In addition, there is free golf at Rolling Hills during certain times, such as 4 hours before dark all season, season opening to May 20 and season ending to October 11 and weekend and Holidays after 1200 hrs.
When I was a member there, I golfed close to 100 rounds a year, so I sure got my moneys worth.

which private course do you have membership now?
eddar: do you find that since you have membership at one course you tend to not go to other non-clublink public courses?

I am a member at Highland Gate. This is the old Aurora Highlands course just off of Yonge St. in Aurora.
I don't golf very many non-clublink courses, unless someone else is paying. I figure since I have to spend money on my membership, I am going to get my moneys worth and I don't like to have to spend more money on golf. I do golf other courses, but not as often as I use to, since joining Clublink.
The great thing with Clublink is that I am not stuck to one course. I think I have 10 courses within an hour that I can golf for free and another 10 or more that I pay if I want to golf. I can golf Glen Abbey for $55.00 plus cart...not bad since I think the public price is $235.00 plus cart.
My initiation at Highland Gate was $5,950.00 and I am paying it off in monthly installments for 6 years, interest free. My annual dues, this year anyway, are $2,800.00 and I have to spend $600.00 food and beverage for the year. This is divided into 2 halves of the season...$300.00 first half and $300.00 for the second half.
I keep track of what the guest fees would cost when I golf a Clublink course and I have created a spreadsheet. To date for 2004, and I am not finished golfing this year, I would have spent over $6,000.00 in green fees. So my membership is really paying off for me.
Speaking of not finished golfing for the year, why the heck am I at home writing this email? I should be out there golfing...what a wonderful looking day. Unfortunately, my wife had to run a few errands and needed the car and my buddy left for Arizona today. Oh well, maybe next weekend.

This membership does sound really worth it. I guess the only thing is once you're a member, you feel the need to only play at a few select courses. My friends seem to like to try all the courses around here, they rarely play the same course more than once or twice per season, maybe membership isn't suited for golfers like that?
It sounds like with membership, you play free at your home course (at certain non-peak times) and get discounts at other times and at other sister courses? And you have to pay a bi-seasonal fee for food? Meaning food is free when you golf?
Sorry, I don't know much about how golf memberships work. Will probably look into it after trying as many GC's as possible and when I can afford it.

WOW!!! I could not afford to golf with the fees in that area. I pay 600 for unlimited golf at one of the best courses in my area. Have at least one NSGA event here every year . I got in 90 + rounds. Works out to less than 7 dollars per round.

Canada's Ocean Playground. PEI right? I spent a couple of weeks there this past summer and can say that PEI is a world class golf destination. The 'lower end' courses that can be played for $40 or less are better than the $70 courses in the GTA. My favourite is Eagle's Glen. The big 4 are nice, but Eagle's Glen plays better than them all IMO. I'm partial to Stanhope as well since that's where I scored my first ever hole in one (10th hole).
