so after the whole "basket-brawl" ordeal, seems like every major sport is taking a look at their own security.
i know most people in attendance to golfing events are civil, but there are always the bad apples. are golfers safe from people in the gallery? what about photographers? I know Tiger had a problem with photographers using flashes during his swing?
so are golfers different than other sporting fans?

There's always a "bad apple" in every crowd. If a crazy fan wanted to do something to a golfer, he can easily do it. I've been to the BCO a couple of times and its very easy to come in contact with them. Of course, the higher profile players have security with them at all times. Tiger has his own. Thing is, you can never "fully protect" any athlete in any spectator type atmosphere. Golf hasn't had a major problem yet with fans, so until it happens, I don't see anything changing.
As for photographers, they are NOT allowed to use flashes and are NOT allowed to take photo's until AFTER the swing. The "clicking" sound is just as distracting. For spectators, you're not allowed to bring camera's or cell phones at all.

Photographers that have been doing this in sports for while do know this and do obey, but there are some who dont know better. Those people should be banned. As for the clicking sound, don't the newer cameras have a silencer button??;)
so do they search people like at a club before you enter?? I have a buddy who was security for Tiger at the Buick Open and he said he personnaly took away at least a dozen cell phones/cameras/pagers during the four rounds and there were about 6 of them (security) at all times.

No they don't frisk you at the gates...when I went to watch the BCO, they just checked your ticket...you're also not allowed to carry in napsacks and bags...so there's nothing to really check...I actually snuck in a small dig cam...I took a few picks of VJ (of course), Mike Weir, Duval and Parnevik...I could have had my cam confiscated but I took the chance.:hush:

You are lucky I didn't see you at the Bell Canadian Open!!!!! I was a Marshal there this year, again, but I would never try to confiscate anyones camera. I would inform them that it could be taken away if some other Authority seen them, but I would never do this. Please don't tell on me, I want to do it again!!!
Speaking of Security, Mike Weir had a few Security personnel around him at the Open but he still got grabbed on his way to my hole, which was the 11th. This is when he started to fall apart on Sunday. It makes you wonder how much that grab affected him.

Well then...better luck next year eddar!! hahaha... ...oh wait...Montreal next year...better luck in 2006!!! I'll be there again...possibility it might be at Hamilton GCC again, IF they accept the offer or else its Angus Glen...BTW, I made sure I was not going to distract any player with my camera...I was in the middle of the 10 deep crowd and only took a quick pic when they were walking to the tee box's..never in his swing or address...:nono:
