Hope Weir stays atop of his game until 2012!! :D Us Canadians had nothing to really look forward to in the Ryder Cup or the President's Cup!

Can't believe you Mok! You don't like Mens syncro diving. I thought that event was so much fun to watch. And it takes a lot of concentration, skill, technique, and training. I think it should stay on as an Olympic sport. Go Canada! On another note we are in desperate need of funding so that we can invest more money into training centres for our athletes!

I believe Golf should be added to the Olympics. Not just because I'm a huge golf fan but because its a true test of an individuals talent and athletism. One thing though, I would like it to be an individual sport. No team play. Just have a 4 round stroke play or to make things more interesting, draw names like the NCAA basketball March Madness tournament and have single elimination play with Match Play. Golf would definately draw viewers for TV and spectator viewing is not a problem, no stadiums to build or anything. I vote for GOLF!!

NCAA basketball has seedings! it's not random...

and i'm sure all sports would draw viewers for TV, just a matter of how many viewers (olympics is not just for viewers in north america...have to consider the other countries...)

If that stupid skeet shooting and clay shooting events are an olympic sport, then golf should definitely be an olympic sport! Just like bball, vball, hockey, soccer, it's also played all over the world...

I think that golf is already a global sport. There's the Ryder Cup, US against the Europeans every even-numbered year, and the President’s Cup, US against the world, minus the Europeans, every odd-numbered year. Also, there is the World Golf Championships and, for the women, the Solheim Cup every odd-numbered year. People would argue also that the PGA Tour and the US Open are both pretty international with lots of golfers representing different countries. So do they really need Golf in the Olympics? Would winning an Olympic medal be a big enough draw for the Pros? Or would golfers rather win the Masters?

That is true, there is a already many team golf events out there...but there would be many golfers willing to have a chance to represent their country in the Olympics. The US is the only country that represents every year in the President's Cup and Ryder Cup...so maybe they'd care less.....but the Euros, Canadian, South Africans can only compete in such an event every other year.....also both events are team events whereas the Olympics would probably be an individual event..

Of course almost all golfers would prefer a Masters win over an Olympic gold medal, but the same can be said about hockey players prefer having a Stanley Cup and basketball players an NBA Championship than winning the Olympics, but in both cases, there are still those stars that would love to represent their country...call it National Pride... :)

I think winning an Olympic medal is enough motivation for a pro golfer. Yes there are already international tournaments around but same goes for soccer and hockey, both have the World Cup, figure skating has its world championships, track and field and swimming have their world championships too and ALL are also in the Olympics. I think there's a different feeling when you can say you're an Olympic Champion. I think athletes like to represent their countries. There's a lot of patriotism, esp with the US. Golf should and will be an Olypic sport in 2012.

Whatever, just using an example. Golf can also use seedings too, but you know what I mean. Golf is popular around the world. They won't have to worry about viewers in other countries. Skeet shooting however...dont know how many countries even train for that so called SPORT?
