I seem to notice that we are getting quite a few new members from Ottawa and since I'm not familiar with the area, I'd like to know what are some good courses to hit if me and my friends decide to take a trip there next golf season....the avg price range my friends like to spend on a course is around $40-$60/round....any info you can provide about your experience with the course is also appreciated! :)

Shameless plug a-comming here.
Best place, bar none for golf in Ottawa is http://www.ottawagolf.com (http://www.ottawagolf.com/) click on "Featured Courses" and pick a course:p
For your price range a few to mention would be :
Chateau Cartier on the quebec side of the bridge for $43 on weekends (they have a hotel too)
Eagle Creek is a little more at $75 but well worth the money as it has held CPGA events in the past and is is always in Tournament condition
Emerald Links is a great course for only $46
Greensmere is another one at only $41 but little younger and IMO a little thiner in the fairways and rough but nice layout and fun to play
Best course IMO under $40 at $46 is Meadows. Great greens and layout is 36 holes with 4 totally different 9 holes (some short and makes you hit irons off tees and then some with risk reward shots on par 5's etc.
There's also another favorite which if I were you coming to Ottawa, I would play on the way here. Pakenham is a great course with lots of ondulations.
I could keep naming courses but with Ottawa/Outaouais being so close together we have virtually 130-140 courses within an hour of downtown. :D
I think we are the Myrtle Beach of Canada.

I can see how that is true, because the population in Toronto is higher...and plus, most of the golf courses aren't actually in Toronto, anywhere north of Steeles Ave. is already not considered Toronto.

Greetings all. First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. I am Dan Kilbank. Owner of OttawaGolf.com, KingstonGolf.ca and GolfResource.net On most forums other than my own I use the handle Kilroy.
I'd like to comment on the rule at our forum. Our forum has been around for several years and many rules have been developed out of nesessity. We get many posts where people put in links to thier websites and if they are answering a question and offering a helpful link (as noback did here) that is great. We do, however remove posts that simply becon people to visit thier site. Occasionally we will move them into the appropriate buy-sell forum if it is offering a golf related product.
I apologise if removing Mok's post was an unfriendly act. Knowing when not to enforce a rule is part of moderating, but I try not to be inconsistant. I certainly do not want anyone to feel unwelcome in "our place".
I have now placed a post of my own on the board to inform our members of this forum and start an exchange of goodwill and friendhip. The post is here http://forum.ottawagolf.com/showthread.php?p=35799#post35799

Hello Dan,
I heard about the post that one of our admins put in your Ottawagolf forum and you're correct, it shouldn't have been put there in the manner that he did. If we saw such a thread in our forum, we would have done the same thing. We apologize if we put you or any of your associates in an awkward situation. We're quite pleased to see a few of your Ottawagolf members in our forum helping to share their thoughts and keep this site lively and active. :) Thank you for the kind gesture for informing your members about our forum, I believe some of your members have already gotten a head start in that department in this forum so hopefully everything is ok now. :) . We look forward to visiting your site and hopefully Ottawa for a golf trip someday in the near future.
Cheers,
Erwin

A couple of winters ago a guy from SOGA (Southern Ontario Golf Association), was doing just like what we all do and was surfing the web and came accross OttawaGolf.com and landed on our OttawaGolf Tour page. He liked what we were doing, especially our Ryder Cup event, and thought it would be a great idea to challenge us in a Ryder cup match. :)
In 2003 we met for a one day 36 hole event of 20 vs 20 at Glen Lawrence Golf course in Kingston. What a day we had. There are some pics on that other :hush: site under the OG tour. We won the inaugural event in Kingston.:D
In 2004 we went to Trillium Wood in Belleville for another 36 hole day. The format was great and the matches were closer but we retained the plaque for the second year.:p
This frienship challenge is what golf is all about and I cant wait for another go at Trillium Wood. What a course that is.
PS.......... Ed you shouldn't have.
