May look to one...I only have my long irons (starting w/3-iron) to get around 200 yrd distance.....2-iron is too hard to hit for me.....I've been hearing a lot of buzz regarding these hybrid clubs...just wanna ask anyone's experience with them so far if they have one?

Hey Ego, as a lady golfer I can vouch for this. I invested in a cheap 9 wood recently and it has really improved my game. It has replaced my 5 iron and I am able to hit about 120 to 130 with this club. hmm I guess maybe now I can join the big boys at the tougher courses! hah!

yah i heard from a friend that they no longer bring their 3-5 irons to the course, just use the rescue clubs...they are much easier to hit and same distance!

It is designed to be a long game yardage and trajectory solution, offering players an alternative to high lofted fairway woods or conventional long irons. It provides a more controllable and playable trajectory. Check it out: http://www.golfserv.com/gdc/news/article.asp?id=27721 Oh (http://www.golfserv.com/gdc/news/article.asp?id=27721Oh) yeah, the MSRP is: $185 steel/$225 graphite.

We got about the same yardage for PW and 7I so this should be a close comparison. Definitely, those hybrid/rescue clubs are much easier to hit than your 2 or 3 iron. I tried them out last year when I went to Florida in December. They were sweet!!! Could not miss with those clubs. It didn't cost me an arm and a leg as I bought component parts and put them together myself. The total cost for me came up to about $30 per club compared to $150 (?) for a Taylor Made (I put a True Temper XL Reg flex steel shaft in it).

I would definitely recommend hybrid clubs for weekend golfers, it actually help make the game a lot easier for me..

Later man, hope this helps. PM me if you need info on the component parts.

I got a set of Adams Idea A1 Hybrids (Hybrid 3 and 4) They have done wonders for my game. I'm hitting the 3 or 4 iron of the tee, the fairway and even the rough. Great distance and control A lot easier to hit than a 3 or 4 iron....

:D

Ego Woods,

I bought the Ping G2 4HL and 5HL recently, these are the hrbrid club that look like Iron. I play my first round with them last weekend... It is much easier to hit than the regular 4 and 5 Irons. The 4HL give me about 195 Yards.

So far, I think this is a good investment for me.

Teck.

Hey EGO,

I bought one this winter. The Callaway Heavenwood 23°. I never thought I would buy one of these but believe me it is worth it. I use to have a 9 wood (24°) but the hybrid is easier to hit but a bit longer. I don't have an iron under 5 so this is what I use.

Hope this help...

Let me be the first to say something negative about them :) . Some players (like myself) have a really hard time with them because they turn into serious hook machines. I'm still on the hunt for a hybrid that does not have a draw/hook tendency. I'm thinking of trying the Snake Eyes Quick Strike Tour which has less offset. I owned a TM Rescue Mid for a while and went back to the 2-iron because it was WAY easier to hit straight.

Hopefully the QS Tour will workout.

I have 2 hybrids (Cobra Bafflers), reasonably priced and very solid. I chose the steel shafts, I think I have more consistency with steel in my irons and hybrids. These 2 clubs have replaced my 3 and 4 irons which did not get a lot of use especially the 3 iron.

I also have a Nakashima 22° hybrid with Graphite Design shaft, it is also a good club but will be for sale as soon as I take some pics, simply because I prefer steel.

I was not a huge fan of hybrids but have been convinced based on performance that they will help my game, such as it is.:)

Hybrids are the way to go with replacing your 3 and 4 irons.I buy my heads from Golfquip on the net witch sells Dynacraft products. It cost me $17.50 CAN. for a 3 and 4 HC Tour non offset Hybrids. They are more forgiving than a blade 3 or 4 iron. They ship them right to your door and just get your golfsmith to put the head on and there you go,you have a brand new club for about $ 27.00 dollars.
Have you heard of Dynacraft products before??

Regards Paul Laframboise,North Bay,Ontario The first set of custom clubs I had made for me were Dynacraft Copperheads, which I really liked. Since then I started building clubs as a hobby and Golfquip is one of the suppliers I use (Kona Golf Sales, Golfworks, GolfFoundry, Golfsmith are the others). My least favourite is probably Golfsmith, the only advantage they have for me is that they carry all builders' supplies and are in the GTA so I don't have to pay shipping. None of their component heads have sparked my interest and their shaft prices are not the cheapest although the only shaft they carry that I use is the Rifle Spinners in my wedges.

Dynacraft makes some excellent components and I am just in the process of building a demo PC3 iron for myself to see if that is going to be my next set (I will also be building a Raven VCT NearNet Forged a Peerless Tour and perhaps one of the Wishon irons before I decide).

I have built a couple of Hybrid component heads I bought from the States, (Title Tour 888, a 13* which I shafted with a UST Irod and a 20* on a Mercury Performance) which are heavier then most Hybrids and have minimal offset. The jury is still out as I have not been consistent with them. I guess I am trying to hit them like fairway woods rather then irons and have a tendency to hit them very thin.

After trying out most of the hybrids rated in the Golf Digest Hot List at GT (just to get the feel of them), I decided on the Callaway Heavenwood 4h.... I already have a Cally 7 wood.

I have only played one round with it but out of the 3 times I had the opportunity to hit it, I landed 2 softly on the green with little roll. I can't see ever going back to the long irons.

The Ben Hogan CFT seems to come up quite a bit on eBay.... that was probably my second choice. I did not like the TM Rescue mid at all.

Good luck:) :)
