Well was that performance by Bart Bryant impressive or what? He smashed the scoring record for that tourament. He was #1 in fairways hit, greens hit, putting, etc etc. If you watched any of that coverage you could not help being impressed with his play. The man was a machine all week with the driver, irons and putter.
Congratulations to a journey man golfer who stepped up to the plate and got the job done in fine style.

I honestly kept waiting for him to fold. I'm glad he didn't though. This was an outstanding performance.

Agreed. For those who know the swing, his laid off position at the top of the backswing has got to produce inconsistant results. Frankly, I was surprised he hit ANY fairways.
But I still have much appreciation for his great play. If I were his instructor, I'd have him working on getting that club pointed at the target at the top of the backswing.
Great week of golf and congradulations to Bart.

If he keeps driving it the way he did today, (and let's remember he won The Memorial which also has a strong field) if I was his swing coach I wouldn't be doing a damn thing to his swing! He missed one fairway in the final 18, on the Par 4 520 yard hole and made boogie.
Sure he doesn't drive it 340 like Woods and Vijay, but I would take that 280-290 in the centre of the short grass all day long! He just teed it up, lined up, hit it and reached down to pick the tee up. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.:)
I was thinking that he could have won just about any tournament on any course the way he drove it, hit his irons and putted this week.
He did good, he did real good!

Try to remember he also hit one drive 220 in the final round, the announcers noted it, and he did hit driver there.
Its swings like that one that have kept him from winnng more. This swing flaw I speak of I have intimate knowledge of. I have the same one. Trust me when I say, I bet he is working on fixing it.
I'm not knockin the guy at all, I'm just surprised he held it together.

I stayed home Sunday afternoon in anticipation of a tightly contested Sunday afternoon.
Good for Bart to win by a landslide; bad for TV viewers like me.
Yawn!

I too was shocked Bart held up, but he kept it all together, man did he sink some long putts at the end, not much anybody can do against that!

As for his swing change, I think the tour has a very wide array of swing styles. Many PGA pros have swing faults your local teacher would spend hours trying to fix. The only thing they have in common is excellent impact position. How about Ray Floyd, Lee Trevino, Jose Coceres, Billy Mayfair, Arnold Palmer and Bruce Leitkse. (spelling?) If these guys showed up at the local CPGA shop, Joe Pro would have them working on the old two-plane swing for hours and would have likely made them worse.
Want to see 150 cookie cutter two-plane swings, go to the Club Pro Championship. Want to see 150 great ball strikers and wonderful all around players with a wide variety of swings, see the PGA Tour. Their is more than one way to get to a great impact position.
I have a friend who played college golf with Bart and Bart's swing is not likely to change. He is a remarkably good player who has struggled with injuries for years. Many have noted Bart is feeling healthy for the first time in very long time. He is one of those great stories on the tour.
Will he fade after a brief surge like Joe Durant or will he become a force in his 40's like Mark O'Meara.
Cheers.

I started to choke up when they showed his wife and kids on the edge of the green on the final hole. Its almost like a Rocky movie for golf. Got love when then little can make almost $4mil in 14 months.
