Hi, This is my first post – I’m a member of some other golf sites – but it is great to be a part of a local site ( located in kitchener)

Couple of questions:

anyone know of a place who bends fairway woods – I have a tour issue v steel – and i want to bend open – nobody I have talked to can do it
also looking for a local ( Toronto area store ) to buy and install project x shafts
also a long shot - I'm looking for a tour issue set of tm 300’s ( ns or box toe)
thanks in advance
Chris

ChrisHi Chris. As a fellow Kitchener resident, I'd also like to welcome you here.

I'd like to suggest you PM Jeff Swain (aka - Swaaain - on TGN) for your club-fitting needs. He is a sponsor of the site as well as the club-fitter for Angus Glen.

Once again, welcome and remember the new guy buys the drinks :D

Welcome Chris,

As akrus said, give swaaain a shout for the Project X's. As for the v-steel with the paint break, good luck, I doubt you'll find any club fitter in Canada that has the bracket to bend the hosel on your fairway wood. A friend of mine is a master club fitter and even he won't touch that as it's too risky. As it is, if your v-steel is tour issue, it should be .5* open.

And to answer the box toe's, there is only one set that has the box toe's and those are Tome Lehman grinds.....I doubt you'll find any here, but I do know there was a guy on BSG that was selling a satin set for $1500USD.

There are only two places that I know of that will bend you V-Steel. The first one is the TM Tour van and Big Hitter, the dude that runs BombSquadGolf. He's basically a tour van that accessible to everyone.

Sounds like you're into some serious Tour equipment. Just curious what you are using now?

The Pro95 is a fantastic 3 wood shaft.

Which drivers are you currently considering?

Welcome Chris, I grew up in the Kitchener area and still live close by. If you've lived there long, chances are we either know each other or have some mutual acquaintences depending on how old you are.

Enjoy the site, there are some great people here.

BSG stuff is soooo over-priced and over-hyped. Those guys (TODD, ahem) RIPS people off with the prices he charges for "tour" issue crap.

I love the BSG certified crap they sell now.....poor suckers who buy into that chit.

Welcome to the Forum Golfinggino! Your woods and irons sound very nice. Hope you're not in limbo long and find your driver before the next golf season.

Ouch Racmbs...sounds like you have some personal gripe with BSG (dropping names and all). Makes me curious as to what the back story is. hehee

To an extent I agree but to each his own when it comes to spending $$$. The tour vs retail argument has been raging for a loooong time and that site is seriously slanted to the tour side. I spend time there just to look at the gear and find out what's the latest and greatest. They always have pics of anything months before anyone else. OEM's will deny the gear's coming, while BSG has had pics up for months. In terms of golf equipment info and knowledge, it's the best site on the planet HANDS DOWN. No one else even comes close. I've never bought anything from Todd, but his website has definitely influenced the way I shop when it comes to equipment. I plan on stopping into his shop on my next trip to Vegas.

I think the BSG certified stuff is groundbreaking actually. I'd never spend the $$$ to do it, but in terms of fitting it's innovative to say the least. Don't be surprised if the OEM's get on board with what BSG's doing. Apparantly there's a major golf publication that's sitting on a story about BSG and will be publishing it in the coming months.

No comment on BSG. Its good if you use it as a source for finding new equipment but when it comes to tour vs retail......

The BSG Certified stuff is cool and all but wouldn't the playing charateristics of the head change once you change the shaft. I would go as far as saying that it'll even change if you change grips. I think its really innovative but at the end of the day, it won't help out 99% of the golfers and almost seem like information overload.

I guess we've kinda jacked this thread...sorry about that. The only tour stuff that I'd ever consider buying is a putter (because of the weight) and wedge (because of the grooves). Now that Y Cutters and Spin Milled are available to the public, I wouldn't buy a tour wedge unless it was cheap. Tour drivers are typically built specifically for a pro. IMO, unless his specs are exactly like mine why would that driver be good for me? It wouldn't. Also, most tour woods/hybrids have an open face. Again, DEFINITELY not for me or the majority of people that play just for fun.

I think the whole idea of the certified heads is that your exact specs are stored and when necessary, the club can be replaced with something as close to waht you need as possible. Personally, I think the reality is that 95% of guys like us get no real benefit from this service. It does eliminate a huge variable, or excuse for hitting bad shots.

Chris, any GT can order and install for you. At the moment, there are no installation charges so you might want to hurry on with it. Golfsmith in Mississauga carries it as well.

Let's just say that Todd is not in many people's good books right now. BSG isn't one of the most popular sites.....

I visit BSG quite a bit, I cannot disagree with anything that Scott has written. Todd and his lemmings are in the business for only one thing, $$$. I go there to find info on whats new and upcoming, I bypass all the "tour is always better" talk!
