Ok now that the PGA has officially wrapped up for another year, with Bart Bryant winning the Tour Championship by a landslide over the #1 Golfer In The World, we are about to embark on the Silly Season.
The Skins Game, Franklin Templeton Shark Shootout, Wendy's Three Tour Challenge (Is that still an event?) The Champions Tour Father & Son event, Target World Challenge, the list goes on and on.
Does anyone watch these events? I like watching the Skins Game, Annika, Freddy Funk, Freddy Couples and Tiger (My Caddy Can Toss Anyones Camera In The Lake) Woods will be in this event. Of course Freddy Couples is the all time leading money winner in the Skins Games. He once said he does well because he does not have to concentrate for 18 holes, just one at a time.
Here is the field for the Target World Challenge, this should be fun to watch

Here is the leaderboard for the Shark Shootout which is on this weekend.

I just checked and yes there will be another Wendy's Three Tour Challange.

So at least there is some golf on TV. You have to figure we won't be golfing much more in this area. However do you sit and watch these events are do you watch football instead? Like I said, I watch them. It is golf and a couple of the events are pretty competitive. Give us your opinions on these end of the year events.

yeah, these 'kiss 'n giggle' events are kinda fun to watch. but, as i've mentioned in a previous post, i don't like watching 'celebrities'* and their on-course antics play golf.

i do like watching JD tee off with his putter by teeing the ball up on a pencil during Skins events. i seen him drive it 280 yards with his std-length putter ... imagine what he could do with a belly-putter ... or a long-putter!

(*saxophone players, NASCAR drivers, actors, recording artists (note it didn't use the term 'singers'), TV personalities, etc.)

The lighten up their attitudes a lot during these events.
Plus you really do not see any of your above mentioned "Celebrities" during the Silly Season. Most of those dudes come out in the early season Pro Ams.

There are so many other personalities out there, why did they pick Fred Funk for the Skins Game?

No disrespect for FF, but I can think of a few golfers that can generate more interest (isn't that what made for TV events are all about?)...like Ms. Wie, Jason Gore, Sergio, Monty, Daly, Greg Norman, Mickelson, even Canada's own Mikey Weir.

I would imagine Fred Funk is in the Skins Game because he puts the "FUN IN FUNK" :D He interacts well with the crowds and that is what makes the Skins Game.
As for Mike Weir, you will not likely see him anytime in the future playing in the American Thanksgiving Weekend Skins Game! He had his glory in the Canadian version of the Skins Game, until Telus took over the sponsorship.
Fred Funk is a good pick in my mind, he is fun to watch. Sergio, Daly etc would also be fun, and they have had their chances in the past. Gore might someday get his chance to play in the event.
Funk will be 50 next season, maybe this is a way of saying "Thanks Freddy"

Daly hit a ball with his putter 280 yards? You sure? On pavement?

I like it when JD hits his ball of a Coke can and then picks up the can and drinks from it

JD did that. He gripped it and ripped it! The putter survived :D

If I recall correctly, he hit it 180, not 280.

Still an impressive feat nonetheless....

i will for sure watch these events. when the golf seasons ends, i have little else to watch other than the San Diego Chargers (WHOOO!!:D ). Not sure what golfbum was trying to say when he was talking about Steve dropping that camera in the drink...I would be pi$$ed too...I hate it when I'm teeing off and the guy on the next green is jaw-jacking! I don't care if you do "RRRRRRRip it" off the last tee, I'm trying to play my own game here...lol....just a little rant...

Last year or the year before during the Skins Game Woods was in a greenside bunker. On a downslope if I recall, next to impossbile to get it close to the flag. Anyways, he was hitting the shot and some guy behind him took a picture. Super Caddy went over, grabbed the guys camera and tossed in the lake beside the green. :nono: Super Caddy was a total jerk. Sure the guy should not have taken the photo, but there was no need to toss a camera in the drink either. That clown gets out of control, he thinks he is the caddie and the security all bundled up in one package. Remember the incident when he kicked a camera out of a newspaper photographers hands at one tournament? I can't recall which one, but once again Super Caddy took matters into his own hands instead of allowing security to handle it.
Like you I do not like it when some one is jawing in my backswing, but tossing a camera or kicking one out of someones hands is totally out of line.:thumbs_do

Totally agree here. Norman was known for going OFF on photographers too but he never took the camera away.

I'm really surprised they didnt invite Wie. Frankly, shes one of, or maybe even THE, biggest draw in golf today.
