Can somebody explain to me why this year's Grand Slam only consists of Tiger, Singh, Campbell, and Mickelson? When last year's tournament had a field of players?

The Grand Slam always only consists of the years majors winners, not a full field. Last year it was Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Todd Hamilton and Retief Goosen, with Philly Mick winning it.

Should also point out that it is not a official event that counts towards any world ranking points or official career money winnings. It's part of the silly season of golf. :)

You're not getting this confused with the Mercedes Championship are you?

On Tuesday, the TV commentator on TNT announced that the second day of the Grand Slam will be from 6 pm to 10 pm. The broadcast was carried by TSN.

So yesterday, I left the office in hope that I could sit back on my couch, have take-out for dinner, and watch golf on TV while it was snowing outside.

When I got home and turned on the TV, I saw OTR being shown on TSN, right away, I checked the TV listing and found out that the golf broadcast was tape delayed till 11 pm because TSN had to show the Leafs-Bruins game (and the Leafs got blown away).

My expected-to-be a great evening ended up being a dissapointing night.

Gripe! Gripe!

i watched from 11-1 (didn't catch the final couple holes) while also watching the raptors game...

the grand slam is one of my favourite golf competitions to watch. you get a real feel for how a player is playing because you get to see just about every shot. i also like the comments guys like tiger make... (not exact quotes) "the wind just slammed it!", "the wind kicked the crap out of it", "be the right club", etc...

I also agree with the previous poster, that I too heard it was on at 6. Spent 10 minutes blaming bell expressvu cuz I couldn't find it in the listings. Watched part at 11 but fell asleep on couch.

I don't agree though on the comment about 'seeing every shot'. I found for some strange reason that they constantly kept going to commercials only to find out they skipped entire holes. In one case tiger looked in trouble to make a green due to bad tee shot.
Go to commercial, come back, announcer says "well tiger just bogied while vijay birdied". I went huh?
Plus many times the shots were all during commercials. They would come back and say here it was a moment ago.

after 8, though, they showed everything.

Yeah, it did improve so I guess your right.
On a raptor note I saw them looking good early against a great team only to turn back to game with 4.something sec on clock and watch them lose by 2..oh my..painful to say the least.

i kinda blame mitchell... he switched to his veterans in the 4th even though it was the new guys who got them the lead in the first place...

VJ was selected as an alternate because Tiger won 2 of the 4 majors.
A comment was also made in the show that Vijay finished in the Top10 in all 4 majors.

Goosen was the first alternate, but declined, and so it fell to Vijay. I can't remember now but who played in this the year Tiger had 3 majors (2000)?

2000 was Woods, Singh, Lehman and Azinger.
