For a real golf nut, we count the green fee as something of a weekly or monthly cost that we can't avoid.....like paying your car lease or your mortgage....it's automatic.....:D

$40-$60 green fee
$5-10 snacks, drinks
Can't really add in lost balls, gas or food afterwards cause thats sort of indirect costs...helps to play early bird or twilight...or when you get the cart and green fee specials...4 for 3's, 2 for 1's..etc...once in a while, you'll go play a higher end course for over $60...

With my membership fees and the rounds I played my green fees calculate out to $25.00
$0.01 for tees per round
$20.00 per year for a new glove ($0.50 per round)
$0.0 Lost Balls. I won two pools on The Golf Channel Discussion Board that neted me 6 dozen golf balls (still should do me next year). :D
$0.0 for food and water (pack my own)
Total = $25.51 per round

Two sleeves of balls autographed by Tiger from a lady who knows the guy. One sleeve of Callaways from Augusta. One sleeve of balls from St.Andrews.

40-50$ For green fee
20-30$ For food either before or after Round of golf
10-20$ For balls/tees
So I would say about $50-70 depending on where im playing or whom im playing with.

Well let me rephrase that. One sleeve went to a young girl I met on the driving range. I promised the sender that I would give one sleeve away and keep the other.

with green fees, lost balls, broken tees, food and beverages, how much do you think you spend on each round of golf? Have a lifetime membership at a club that I bought 5 years ago meaning that my dues paying days are over, forever, barring bankruptcy. When I consider what I was paying at my previous club plus the transportation to get there, divided by the lifetime fee already paid, it is the best yeilding investment that I have.
Now, playing in a lot of outside the club tournaments, the entry fees totalled $1240. The Canadian Seniors alone cost me $1000, ie., entry fee plus all the rest. Another $500 to $600 for snacks and club tournament entry fees, about $200 for balls, and about $1200 on new equipment. Somewhere around $4000. I also assemble clubs for people as a hobby, so what I charge for the work more than offsets the cost of my golf equipment. That is why I do it.
On a per round basis it comes to about $40 each, as I play a lot of golf.

Hey, shouldn't you be including the cost of your membership across the number of times you can play throughout your membership? ;)

I'm going to look at the cost of golf for myself next year...ideally. Because I want to improve on my game, if I commit to going to the range at least once a week, play a course once a week during the season and also take a trip in the winter time to play somewhere warm, golf in '05 would cost me:
$360 (8 mths x 4.5 weeks = 36 times at an outdoor range x $10/practice)
$360 (4 mths x 4.5 weeks = 18 times at a dome x $20/practice)
$1900 (8 mths x 4.5 weeks = 36 times to the course in a season x $50 avg/GC + $100 for a one time tournament)
$200 (equipment upgrade, accessories, balls, etc.)
$1000 (one trip to Muskoka, one trip down to the States)
If I'm really serious about improving my game, I think golf's going to cost me $3820!! :help:
