Her Dad John and I run the high school tour here in Hamilton. I'll be seeing her at John's house on the 17th.

Alena is the future of Canadian women's golf on the LPGA Tour. She is strong, a very smart player, and has incredible guts under pressure.

Alena won the Star's Amateur a few years ago. She turned pro two years ago and played well this year at the Future's Tour. If you keep some of the golf publications from Canada from ealry spring, she was considered to be a hot prospect for Canadian women's golf.

Additionally, she is only 24, she is the future of women's golf in Canada.

I wish her the best.

Also, congratulations to Ian Leggart for coming through on the most stressful day of a professional golfer. He was in 42nd place coming to the last round. I think this has to do with the tenacity he developed while being an aspiring speed skaeter and hockey player at his younger age.

Absolutely, I commend him too...but I think there was a lot of PURE BLIND LUCK involved too!

Easy son or her Dad and I will kick your butt. ;)

Seriously, she is a good looking, very solid woman who would kill all of us on the course and maybe in the gym as well.

I'm just pullin' your leg, relax. Alena looks strikingly like Annika Sorrenstam in person and their swings are very similar.

Ancaster's very own Alena Sharp is currently 85 in the LPGA money list. For all intents and purposes, she will keep her card...

Congratulations to Alena....

Regrettably, she finished 91st and missed by less than $900 but will get to play a full slate next year.

I saw it on the LPGA site updated Nov 6, 2006. She is currently 85.

#85 ($97,422.00US)
... not bad for a college grad's first-year in the 'working' world.
and assuming her sponsors pick up her tab for food, shelter, clothing, transportation (expenses that us workin' stiffs all have) that is some wicked coin!:eek::eek::eek:

It was reported in The Hamilton Spectator that official money ended before the is tournament. Perhaps, the reporter was in error.

I spoke to her dad John last evening. The money won in Japan does not count as official $ even though it is an LPGA event. The 91st ranking stands.

Thanks for clarifying......Just when I thought the PGA tour money list was confusing, the LPGA's tops it....

Just to make it even more confusing. The Official ADT money list on the LPGA site states Alena is 85th on the money list. The reason for this is that players have to finish inside the top 90 on the money list after a certain event. Sorry that event escapes me, but it is well before the end of the season. That's why Alena is fully exempt on the LPGA Tour in 2007.
