Hello!

new to the forum, thought I'd post my first message here.

I live in Mississauga, been playing golf for about 15 years. At my prime (about 4 years ago) I was indexed at 6.8 ... but this is when I was in school in Florida and playing about 3-4 times / week. The university course was only $7 to walk for students and $12 to ride. And this course would make many up here look like an apple orchard (no pun intended to ****** ***** in north brampton).

Anyways, I'm probably closer to a 12-13 now but haven't been keeping track of scores for quite some time. I don't play seriously anymore (used to play to score well - 3 wood / 3 irons off the tee, never going for the green on par 5's, etc) but now I just play for fun and find the enjoyment in the game. Prefer to play with people that don't take the game too seriously but rather just enjoy a day out of the office.

I guess that's about it ... just wanted to say hello!

Welcome aboard!

That's what I found out about golfing in the US. If you're a senior in some areas ie. Myrtle Beach for example, you can get a seniors discount card/book or some courses do it out of curtesy and play for $25.-$40. with cart as opposed to $80-$100.+ That is what some retired snowbird told me what he and his wife does during the winter months. They even mention that some courses support the local schools and colleges and give huge discounts to them.

The US plays and invests so much more attention and money towards athletic activities than Canada. Look at the turn outs for even their highschool football, baseball etc. They make a big thing out of these events. Here, we're lucky if both parents go and watch their kids play.

Got some first hand experience with this...played Disney's Magnolia course the week after the Funai and was charged $120US. Was paired up with a retired military person and a local and each paid between $40-50...
