Hi Golfer,

I am thinking of taking lesson from Markham GolfTown. If you have lessons with them before, please could you share your experience.

Thanks,

Teck.

dictates that since we play golf outside
we should take lessons outside

any lessons indoor, whether golftown or elsewhere
limit your observations on actual ball flight
and only allow hitting off mats

like who really knows whether your lesson or instruction is effecting a change
or desired result

i think einstein would only take lessons in real playing conditions

Not true at all. Very poor swing motions are easily captured on state of the art computerized video systems and the correct motions displayed side-by-side. Couple that with the use of the Vector launch monitor and great improvements can be made.

I also have a friend who's taking lessons from Golf Town and he says it helps because of the video and new technology in breaking down each swing. He's only played for 3 years and is now a single digit handicap. I even said to him that I dont' like lessons when I can't see the ball flight but he said its more important to make correct contact and to iron out your swing flaws.

your opinion is bias,
since you're employed in golf

we should agree to disagree

I just recently spoke with a acquaintance of mine at some Christmas dinner and he told me he took two lessons from a Golf town instructor and it immediately changed his game....he was already a decent golfer at the beginning, but he shaved off like 5-6 basis points off his handicap.....I played with him once before he took his lessons......and then i saw him hitting a few balls off the range after his lessons and I've never seen him hit balls so crisp and straight......he even said he gained two club lengths in distance....

The golf town pros are CPGA instructors....so they're the same as other CPGA instructors u'd find in other places...the only difference might be that it's indoors....but i think the more important aspect of the instruction is the video analysis they do of your swing rather than watching your ball flight

IMO, it comes down to the individual instructors and where the student is. If the student is very new to the game, I can see it being very easy for the person to improve on the game. If you have an experienced person who wants to learn something new (ie. draw, fade, etc.), it may be a little harder to do it indoors. Ofcourse, some instructors are good, and others are bad, so some Golf Towns will be better than others.

Myself, I just stick with indoor lessons. I worked with an instructor at Angus Glen this year, and I will be going back during the spring.
