Hello TorontoGolfNuts!
I've been a member of a big US-based site for awhile and just found out about this site. I've recognized a few other members here as well.
As far as bios go, I was introduced to golf through friends at the age of 12. At 13 I got my first job working in the backshop at North Ridge Golf Club, a muni in Brantford, ON.
I've worked in marketing communications for several years in both internet services and the golf business. I currently hold a marketing position in golf retail.
I'm an equipment junkie, so expect to see me in that discussion a lot. I'll also be paying particular attention to feedback on golf retail in this market and chiming in every now and then.
I'm also a public player and play most of my golf north of the city; Westview, Parkview, Angus Glen and a few private clubs in the Markham area.

Hope to see you at Westview one day. My favourtie course (even though you'll see some negative experiences in this site). Are you a member of the GAO and are you playing in any events in 2006?

Welcome North Ridge. That course is about 15 mins from my place but Ive never played it. NR doesnt get great reviews, even for a muny.
I cant afford Brantford G & CC so Im hangin my hat @ Paris for now.
So you packed it in and headed for the big smoke to earn some dough?
BTW, golfn today was awesome! :D

I've played at Paris (Grand Golf Club & Inn) many, many times. Family lives up the road from there. It's kind of the chosen destination for stag events. Actually got hit by my first bal there this past summer. Ow.
North Ridge is OK. The front 9 has quite a bit of variety; uphill drives, blind shots, downhill approaches, but the back 9 is quite a bore. Some long holes, but really back and forth and flat. I play it every couple of years for old times sake.
Hey, I heard Paris was in receivership. True?

Hey .......... yes, true.
KPMG accounting firm to hold sale of course at months end. 20+ people or groups scheduled to attend and bid to purchase.
Details as they unravel will follow.
I am a very interested spectator as I live about 4 mins from the course and I'd like to play there as a member. Wish someone would make it private.

Welcome aboard! I played Westview last season and was all ready for all the bad things people say ie. long rounds, etc. I guess I lucked out 'cause my bro-in-law and myself only got held up on a couple holes. We basically played our normal speed and didn't push anyone else or get pushed by anyone behind. Squeezed in 27holes walking and I still ready to take on 9 more but had to meet some folks. Fun track to play.
