How nice was it to see David Duval fire off a 63 yesterday? Here's hoping it's a sign of things to come...

He's fat and he's back!!!!

Love it.

I noticed that he put on a few pounds as well. Maybe that's the secret. Get fat. Be happy, Play golf.

It's great to see him get some positive coverage and hopefully he doesn't have any issues in keeping his card in 2006 and those days are behind him.

Good for the original Double D. I'd love to see him competitive again.

Apparently he had on a back brace - so he might not be as fat as he looked, although he's put on a few pounds for sure..

Hooray for Duval! fond memories of the dude for me at the beginning of his run to #1 when he won @ Disney.
it was @ the end of my first-season trying out this krazy obsession called 'golf'.:)

I also noticed DD had put some weight back on. Well remember when he first came on tour and played well he was not thin and fit. Then he goes on the major workout routine, buggers his back up and can't play his way out of paper bag.

So maybe he has it back to wear he was, although he is not quite as fat :D . If he is happy, (Wife and children now) and content then maybe he will get back to being a force on the tour. He'll never regain the #1 spot but if he contends and maybe wins a tournament then good for him. I think David basically became mentally burnt out after winning THE OPEN. He stated he had worked a long time getting there and once he was there he found out it wasn't such a big thing to him.

Funny, all the young buck want to work out, pump iron, get fit. Back in the old days when Jack dominated the tour, along with Trevino, Arnie and the rest of the good old boys, no one was in the fitness trailer then. OK, Gary Player was but not many others were. Play golf, smoke, and have some beers after the round. My how times have changed!

Babe Ruth would be rolling over in his grave watching the ball players juice it up and pump iron:rofl:

At the top of the tour level most of the pros have back rotations that would cause most of us to disconnect our top half from our bottom half. Some have this flexibilty naturally (Bubba, Daly) but others (VijAY, Tiger) need to work on this regularly otherwise they lose it.

Its funny others mentioned his weight. I thought of it when I saw him but didn't know if any would talk about it.

I remember golfing with friends several yrs ago, and we commented, partially joking, that he should put the weight back on.

I am sure that has nothing to do with it. Today's strongest golfers are fit. Tiger, els, sergio, etc (ok phil's not inc).

Becoming fit/thin may affect swing temp but not permanent. I think his vertigo and confidence had more to do with it.

Still however can't get over the fact that like him or not (he appeared kind cold) he was #1 in the world and dropped off the map entirely. Very difficult to believe and you have to sympathize and root for the guy.
Good luck David, we are pulling for you.

Cheers, Shark.:$
