Hey Mok,

Great driver for its time. If you are looking for something now though, I would recommend something newer. For relatively cheap (on ebay, in the forums, etc.) you can get something a lot better. Most of the drivers released post-2002 are easier to hit and hit the ball further.

There are a lot of used Ping SI3's around, those are half decent. The King Cobra 440 and 400SZ are fantastic too, and you can get those off ebay for pretty cheap. I would not spend money to buy an older model nowadays...but that's just my opinion.

Hope this helps.... if you like titleist, Golftown has a sale on its 983E's and K's. That's a newer model than the 975J.

thanks Kev,

I just saw some that are like under $100...that's why I asked, I'm sure within last couple years the tech in golf gear has improved so greatly it's worth it to spend a lil more to obtain it.

No problem Mok. It's funny though... my friend pulled out his old 975J last year and I couldn't even hit it. Kept duck hooking everything. I'm sure it was more due to my swing than anything, but I really wonder how spoiled I am due to the technology. I'm sure the technology hasn't made that huge of a difference but mentally it made a difference. Just looking at an old driver head, I was convinced I couldn't hit it.

My 3 wood is still quite small, conventional sized and I can hit that fine. It must've been in my head.. :)

One of the other things about Titleist drivers is how fast the face can soften.

I know a 1 or 2 handicap player who replaces his Titleist driver once every 20 or so rounds. My friends who also play with the same driver have also admitted that they belivie the face softens up as you play.

For that I would use a word to the wise when buying older titleist drivers.

The 975J is a good driver, but you can pick up something a little easier to hit.
