I don't think anyone is taking anything away from what he has accomplished in his lack of years.
The issue I am starting to have with him is that sometimes he acts as if he is the only one in a room. I know he is young, but for all you know I am 12 and my profile is full of crap. There is a general level of decorum that some expect. Repeated tire kicking and post bumping and thread jacking are things that get my attention of things I do not need to see as active topics.
He appears to be a great player, and that is what is on paper, and I don't beleive everything I read.

your right mikejb, I ran home to see who was ripping up on me today.. Ok i want everyone to put themselves in my shoes.. Im 16 yrs old, decent golfer, 2 handicap, play 170+ rounds/year, trying to get a golf scholership, all i wanna do in my life is golf every single day, come on this website to meet people who have the same passion for the game as i do and hopefully play with them sometime in the summer..
Now someone mentions Gajan and all i say is the kid hits a short ball and needs to hit it longer and since i spelt Amateur wrong Im getting ripped on for that.. I think its absolute bull$&*% and shouldn't happen.. Then someone tells me to list my accomplishments so they can rip up what ive done and so i do what i was told and list my accomplishments.. I havn't heard anything negative about my accomplishments therefore people continue to dislike the fact that im even on this website for 2 stupid reasons.
Just put yourself in my shoes and see what you would do.

Just put yourself in my shoes and see what you would do.see, the funny thing about the internet is that everybody's equal here. you could be 16 or you could be 72. who really knows who anybody is, afterall? you could be the #4 junior golfer, or you could be some hack who could never break 100. it really doesn't matter.
this kind of anonymity can be both good and bad. it's good in that you can get a lot of respect among people you would have normally had a difficult time making a good impression with. on the other hand, nobody's gonna cut you any slack just 'cause you're 16, and they'll treat you as brutally for saying something wrong as if you were a fully matured adult.
the best thing you can do is learn from the experience... perhaps next time you might want to pick a more anonymous profile. that way, if you screw up and say something stupid, you can always start again with a new name.
even more importantly, i wouldn't take things said about you so personally. people will say anything in a forum because nobody is accountable for what's said. if someone doesn't like you here, so what? what can they really do to ya? just let it go. the great thing about written text is that it's so easy to ignore...

Glig, the best thing to do is keep quiet bud. I know you want to defend yourself but your just digging a deeper hole...........pretty soon you'll need a backhoe. take the criticism with a grain of salt , lay low for a bit and things will cool down. I'm not sayin' who's right or wrong, everyone should have a chance to defend themselves,But......................it' seems you're fighting a losing battle.

Hey Gligster, who says you're not wanted on these forums? Don't let a couple people talk trash about you and them make you feel unwanted. There are a lot of people on this forum that are probably jealous or envious of what you have accomplished so far. A few of us can probably learn a couple things from you. Keep up the hard work and keep on posting. I for one enjoy reading your posts. :D

In fact, it was more protection for Gaj since he hasn't even had a chance to retort. Just take it as a little jest and don't take anything personal. You just over reacted to the "teasing" some of the guys did. Remember, there are lots of jokers in this site. I congratulate you in your accomplishments and good luck in your pursuits. Hope you and Gajan play each other many times in the future!! For sure, there will be lots watching;)

Hi Thimble, AnnikaFan, Racmbs, GtA, etc.
I spoke to Michael on the phone for about 2 hours, to help him with his equipment optimization for his next season of competitive golf. What I learned is that he is a real decent kid, with a passion for golf. During our phone conversation he wasn't full of himself and I had to ask open ended question before he would talk about himself or his accomplishments. It was never about look at me and what I have done. Its harder to communicate effectively on the written page. Its also less personable than face-2-face communication, which we can rarely get with the internet.
Mike - AnnikaFan and Thimble gave you some solid advise. DON'T TAKE IT SO PERSONAL, AND IGNORE IT A BIT. Don't allow yourself to get baited to post something silly or what people even ask you to respond to, which adds fuel to the fire. That is like a kid pulling a 6-iron out on the tee, you grab a 6-iron and hit it short into the bunker, then he grabs the 5-iron which was his original intention all along.
Racmbs made a solid point about what potential NCAA coaches will find from a Google search of your name, so be mindful of that. Just as you have to exercise strong course managment and mental fitness on the course to win or place in the top 3, this forum somedays is no different. Conquer this and gain back the respect and you will have learned a great lesson in life. Leave and feel the rejection and failure ... that is the wrong lesson to learn in life, especially at 16 years old.
I personally think you made a couple of judgement errors, while others wanted to throw a little gasoline on the fire to keep it going, BUT heck who doesn't make the odd mistake in life. If you make no mistakes then you are not living dude. The smart ones learn from what life throws at them, and grows as a person.
Mike I also agree with you, and I think I stated it on the other thread that the other kid if he is short off the tee, then this is indeed a weakness in his game.
Also keep in mind that for many a great Junior golfer, this is no way a guarantee or predictor of success as a professional on the larger stage. Many young men who have won National titles have peeked their game already. They are at the cement block wall and cannot push it back for more entitlement. They are not armed with new knowledge on how to improve, so turning professional is not an option unless they can live off of little income.
Stay the course Mike and gain back the respect. You will be playing some tournment golf in a few short months, so keep us posted on your success and failures along the road using this thread with your name attached to it. I personally would love to hear how your progress through the 2006 tournament golf season.
Remember TIME will heal a lot of wounds, so will a low stoke average while you compete.

Mike this all started when the snowball started rolling on Gajan (is that how it's spelt?).
You made a valid point, that there were other's out there, as amateur's, and this kid in question might or might not grow with his potential.
Nothing wrong with that. However, with each reply someone made, you kept repeating the same things i.e. his size, instead of making a different point, you kept reiterating over & over.
Most people at this point, decided to yank your chain, because you appeared defensive, and that in turn made you appear jealous. Typically people who point out others shortcomings in skill, are jealous in some way i.e. their ability, their noteriety.
Forget it, move on, don't be so paranoid in future that you are afraid to disagree, but make your point, then move onto something new.
Good luck

I also want to hear how you do after you finish a tournament event.
What did you learn from the event?
> What were your strengths and opportunities for improvement, that you can focus on prior to the next event? Where will your improvement come from?

Pic #2 This is a picture of the scoreboard that they use at national events (CJGA Majors) And these scores are over par after the first 2 rounds.
Pic #3 Most people would think by looking at this pic the ball went into the trees but i guess by the way the camara man took the picture and the angle he was on it looks like it is going right but really ended up on the left side of the fairway :) Wait i had to edit this post because i remembered that i hit this one into the mid-cut of grass between the fairway & rough on the right side.. lol Left side of the fairway was on the 2nd round..

This man is helarious, I think i just saw him on the comedy network doing standup with chris rock. he's a nice guy to me because he wants my business and then when he tells me he wants $60 a club for fitting and I say that i dont wanna spend that kinda money considering I have $5,000 worth of tournament entry fee's plus $1,000 on irons from westbeach and $300 on wedges and $150 on a hybird, plus his shop is 3 hours away and gas isnt cheap, he says stupid things like that....hmmm...nice guy he is. :)
For GLIG, professional fitting of clubs does not come cheap. You of all people should know that. A man has to cover his costs and make some money or why bother doing it for the general public.
I paint clubheads, I don't do it for free.
Personally I find your comments out of line, for someone who wanted an expert opinion on club fitting you got it, basically for free. Then you trash talk the guy? Great way to gain respect and make friends in the world of golf. :thumbs_do

GtA, you get an A+ for sensational journalism, which is meant to bias the reader and sway public opinion.
#1 > ALL of your stated prices are inflated, deflated or simply omitted, to impose positive public judgement. Gligster, you distorted what you paid for the 11 clubs by $250 [stated $1,450 vs. spent $1,200]. As one example, it is public knowledge that westbeach secured your new Mizuno MP-32’s for $900 and not $1,000 as you now claim.
#2 > You stated I wanted $60 / club for fitting. I actually charge $0 for fitting and private consultation, aimed at your improvement. You never received an invoice from me did you? Therefore, it must have ALL been FREE!
#3 > I stated my professional fees (upfront) for ‘clubmaking and blueprinting’ services per email #11 of 62. Over a 38-day period, you received 20-hours of expert one-on-one consultation from me which consisted of 2 hours of phone calls and 62 private emails. EGO & ATTITUDE might be tolerated if the athlete has the total game and has proven him/herself on the playing field, under the stiffest competition. Until then, drop both and learn how to treat your elders with the respect they have earned.
You would never see Tiger, Phil or any other top PGA player bad mouthing Arnold or Jack would you?

Thats fine. Im not appologizing to anyone as i've had a few people from here,my golf coach, my dad, and a few other people in the golf world tell me that spending $60/club would not be anymore benefitial then if i went to somewhere like oakville golf to get it done. I really dont care what you people say about me nor do i care what you think about me. I wanna thank westbeach for the irons but i dont think im going to be doing any more chatting on this website. Ever since i got here it has been a total mess and it think it would be best for me and you guys if i just left. Yeah i might have a bit of a temper as so much ***** has been going on in my life. I do appologize tho to those who had to read my *****. I know i have said a few stupid things but then ive said a few things that you guys thought were stupid yet i thought were fine. I think this problem has two sides to it and most people are on touriq's side. You can take me out of the copetown woods event aswell who ever is running it.

$3,350 total and i dont even have half of my tournaments.

THAT'S JUST TOO FUNNY
Hi Golfbum
I originally told GtA it was $60/club (tax in) but later told him I would do it cheaper as he was going to add 2 wedges and 1 hybrid to the pot, for a total of 11 clubs to rebuild with new shafts, grips and the set fully 'blueprinted' to exceed tour quality. There were no extra charges like fitting fees, or components (shafts and grips) to purchase. It was all inclusive. Just recently, Michael has already spent on average $102.50 for each of 2 new shafts.
Just last week, I stopped by a local city golf retailer and got a price on redoing my son's Mizuno MP-30's, as a good cost comparison to the work I had quoted the kid. Just wanted to insure I wasn't ripping him off financially as his coach and his dad thinks I was going to do. They wanted $75 / club tax in. The local golf retailer doesn't even have a reamer to convert the heads to parallel, therefore they run the risk of wrecking the $900 heads since they were going to just use a standard 3/8" drill bit. The resulting sloppy fit (hosel to shaft tip) would need a lot of shafting beads in the epoxy mix, not what I call a quality job considering the supplied forged iron heads are very expensive. They did try to talk me out of the 'drill-the-hosel', but you can't frequency match a taper tip shaft. In addition their product knowledge was close to zero as the guy asked me if I wanted 0.335 inch tip diameter shafts installed in the Mizuno iron's. I said 'no' that would be a wood shaft  . I guess buyer beware!!!
Golfbum, you are correct when you stated earlier that this stuff isn't cheap or FREE ... the price of admission if you want to have a career and do well in golf!
LOCAL GOLF RETAILER – Best City, ON, Canada
$30 Shaft purchase [ upgraded to TT DG S-300 with Sensicore ]
[ I was using a better steel shaft, but this is a good cost comparison ]
$9 Grip purchase [upgrade to Lamkin Crossline Dual Density]

$5 Drill hosel [ convert hosel from taper tip to parallel tip ]
[ Should only use reamer, as they can ruin a head by drilling the hosel ]

Harry, from all accounts I've heard your crafsmanship is second to none. I'm sure you offer fair prices for the work you perform. I have asked around the many shops here in Ottawa and $60/club to get it custom fitted is very reasonable if not a steal. I know getting your clubs custom fitted is a good thing to do but alas I am just a recreational golfer who does not have the funds to get this done. But if I did you would be on my list of people to contact Harry. Keep up the good work.
But I do have one question, the store wanted $30 per shaft for TT DGS300 w/Sensicore? I can get a single shaft for about $20 from here in Ottawa. Talk about gouging.

Hi Big Johnny69
First off, I sincerely appreciate your 'vote of confidence' as to my capabilities.
You are absolutely correct, that shaft is not worth $30 to buy from a component house. With tax in it’s close to the $20 mark you stated. That is where the chain stores (big retailers) have modified their pricing structure to sway guys to bring in their clubs for the reshafts, and hide some extra profits from being visible to Joe Public golfer.
For example, they want $149 + tax = over $170 for an Aldila NV 65-S shaft and the installation (if you buy their shaft) is only $10. Man what a deal. Why can't ALL clubmakers match that $10 installation fee? If you then walk in with the shaft in hand, oh the price jumped up to $25 for the installation.
Another example: buy the grip at an inflated price and the installation is only $1.00 > what a deal! Now tell me again Harry, why I can't buy the grips myself at Golfsmith and give them to you to install for a buck like the retailer?
The paying consumer does not compare apples to apples. They look only at individual components of a price, rather than the total cost of doing business. Most guys get shafted and don't even know it. :help:  :help:
On a lighter note, I'd like to know HOW THAT word was allowed!!!???:D

This ranking of 4th in Canada, is that for whining?
If I was your Daddy I would be kicking your a** right now. Then again your Daddy is part of the problem here. He spends money on you like it is water, for what purpose? To have your clubs "Blueprinted" to tour specs? Kid your game is no where close to "Tour Specs" not with those scoring averages. Sure, you have some game, but you state you are a 2 index. There are lots of TWO's out there, and they are not going anywhere, and they are your age. I personally know 3 young guys in my city that could likely wipe the course with your butt. Yet not one of them thinks he is going to be playing on the PGA in a few years. One of them is on a scholarship to a college in Ohio and even he knows better than to brag about his game like you do.
There is nothing worse in life than having to listen to someone use excuses to prop up their rude behaviour. You gone over the top in that category. Using your brother's issues, your parents issues, your lack of having wheels etc etc etc. Cry us a river.
Do you think you are the only person with issues at home to deal with? Or work, like the majority of us? That those issues give you the right to come on this forum and be rude to a well known club builder such as Harry? The man went out of his way, at no cost to you to try to help you out. Maybe you think he is just some guy who chops clubs up and sends them back. He gave you a fair price, compared to the other prices he quoted above. However you still try to run down his business
Harry, I can understand why you are hacked at this kid. Him, or his father for that matter do not realize the costs involved, and the time and labour involved when it comes to putting together a "Blueprinted Golf Club" That would be like me telling someone I will paint his driver after he skymarked it, and I will do it for free
Gligster we all know you are reading these posts. If you understand what we are saying you might come out of this better off. If you think we are just being "AHOLES" then you really have some "ISSUES OF YOUR OWN" Deal with them ASAP for your own good.
One last issue with you. Be a man and contact whoever is in charge of the COPETOWN EVENT and tell them you will no longer be playing in that event. STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND BE A MAN. If you want to be treated like a MAN then act like one. I agree with RR when he says you are going no where in golf with your attitude.

Hi Golfbum
GtA's '4th' place ranking per CJGA Order of Merit last year was based on playing 16 events.
Mike had a notable stroke average of 76.89 vs. the lowest scoring average in the field at 74.0.
Dong Su played 6 events, had an inspiring stroke average of 74.0, but finished 3 spots behind GtA.
The 'Top 50' players [Boys age 14 - 16] played on average fewer than 6 events [5.86 to be exact].
With over 230 kids playing this elite division, the most events played by one Jr. boy was 17 events.
Fewer than 1% of the boys played over 9 events. I guess it's pretty darn costly to get to them all.
Based on 'scoring average' alone, 'Gligster The Amatuer' would of been ranked 20th overall per CJGA.

Well based on scoring average he ranks 20th overall in the CJGA. Which is still a good ranking.
However, that alone does not give him the right to trash talk you, or anyone else for that matter. Nor does it give him the right to just post the fact he no longer wants to play at Copetown. He could have the nads to email the people in charge and withdraw that way. JMO
I have taught both of my young daugthers to treat people with respect, escpecially people who are older and wiser than them.

Hi Golfbum
I totally agree, 20th overall CJGA is still pretty darn good if you ask me,considering over 230 kids playing.
Better than the bottom 90+% of the field. Most guys will NEVER get to a 2 handicap like Gligster has done.
It would be nice for him to still play Copetown Wood and showcase both his game (talent) and good side.

Okay, hope I don't get crucified for this.
Harry, as a business man, yes, it sucks to not get the business after spending so much time with a potential customer. I'm sorry to hear that you lost 20+ hours for trying to help out Michael. However, it sounds like there might be some "sour grapes" in your commenting. I mean, if I was to help somebody out and they took their business elsewhere, well, that's their choice and NO I will not be dealing with them in the future. Time to move on. This isn't even a discussion about Gligster being disrespectful or not. I noticed you were sticking up for the Michael previously but then all of a sudden you turned on him!? What caused this? The fact that he didn't want to spend $500+ for professional clubfitting? Hell, at that price, I would highly doubt too many people will. I'm sure you have your share of customers but not a guy who's already looking to get deals on clubs, shafts, etc.
As for others posting about telling Michael to be a man regarding the Copetown outing, when the heck did Michael commit to playing? Unless he PM'ed the organizer, then I have not read anywhere where he said he would play 100%. How many others have personally emailed the organizer to say they can't play instead of just posting on the Copetown outing page?
Talk about ganging up on a kid. All this talk about his ranking...well guess what?!? Vijay played a crapload of tournaments in 2004 so does his ranking as #1 on the money list not count?
Yes, I agree with others that Michael's online attitude can be better. I HAVE met with Michael and although not for long, he's mature for his age and very courteous. I hardly doubt that aside from Harry that any of you have met or talked to Michael in person. The truth of the matter is Gligster is a junior and if all you guys can do is torment him then you'll probably see the worse of Michael.
Anyways, it's getting late and Michael, I just want to let you know that it's not you against the world. Best wishes with your season and seriously hope to see you at Copetown. Meeting the guys/girls from TGN will certainly ease things up for you in the future.

Thats fine. Im not appologizing to anyone ...
Michael Gligic was a BIG MAN tonight and sent
me a Sincere Apology, which I ACCEPT.
Your private pm to me tonight was indeed sincere and thoughtful so I thank you for that.
You really do need to play Copetown Woods and let the guys see you as one of their buddies.
To pass on this event would be a BIG mistake. If it costs money then skip a tournament event.
The relationships you forge with others is far more important than going from event 25 to 26.
Think first before you write. The 2 hours we spent on the phone, I knew you were a good kid.
Mike, I do accept your apology and thanks for it. Good luck GtA and I do hope you do well in golf.

Harry, lay of the BS Bolding and Coloring. It's reserved for BIG SHOOTER. LOL.
I'm glad you posted this. I wouldn't defend Michael if I didn't think his reputation was worth defending. You posting this makes me feel a bit better for yourself and Michael himself.

Just to let you know Ted I have had 7 pm's from people 3 to join us and 4 that cant play.As for gta trashing touriq, the man tried to help him out and if he did not like the price then so be it but you dont trash the man in a post like he did.If you go back and read some of gta's posts you will see that he wanted these clubs blueprinted from the start.Did he think that this would be free?

RR, yes I realized what GTA did but what's up with all the crap about rankings, etc brought on by the elders? Is this how discussions should be? Mocking and flinging crap about each other when there is a debate?
I'll be the first to agree that Gligster didn't go about things the right way with TourIQ but certainly other members have just jumped on the bandwagon and crucified this kid for not knowing better.

Hey Michael, I hope you still come out to the Copetown Woods event. Like I said before, don't take things posted here too personally. It'll be different when we all meet in person :)

Cause I like bring threads back from the Dead.
Gligster, if you are going to be riding into the Clublink event, why don't you just start posting again. It is clear you are sitting around all the time logging in and seeing what everyone else is saying.
So why not just be part of the community.

Wow; that's all I can say. Totally missed all of this mess due to a busy travel schedule at work.

Biting your lip / keeping your mouth shut when you're a youngster is one of the first signs of maturity.
Hopefully Glig has learned something through this whole experience and is on the path to a better more mature individual. Time will tell.
Glig, I also hope you stop and pay attention to things you can learn through this whole experience. Besides learning to think before firing off; also learn to plan things better.
Something like creating a plan, setting a budget, asking for total costs from the people involved, and then finally executing on the plan. A wise person by the name of Bill Phillips once wrote " A failure to plan is a plan for failure".
As an aside; If I didn't already go to an excellent Class A club fitter (Ian Hale from Hale's Custom Clubworks) then I would definately go to TourIQ. Harry, you are first class in my books.

I must agree with you that Ian is a class A club fitter....I went to him to get my irons fitted and he was first class through and through...

Open invitation to Mike to come play CW with me sometime, I'll even come and pick you up. I know what its like to be 14 and have 14 year old attitude.
Im probably younger then these posters and I understand what its like to be gifted and young. I was once kicked out of an establishment for it.
Anyways, I hope he comes back. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance. There are other youngsters Ive seen on other boards get a boatload of free stuff just to turn around and sell it. When confronted about it they did the "screw you, you arent my parents" on everyone. Come back soon Mike.

Since none of you "adults" have sent me a PM I am going to clear everything up right now.
Someone please jump in and make sure that the people who havent met me know that Im not a total jerk.
Ok, back to topic. Reading through this I was quite excited to have a younger member on this board, a young talented member. Then the thread turned for the worst, he acted his age and you ridiculed him for it. Doesnt everyone remember when they were 14? Being 14 is one big C*CK show, its all about how much things cost and how much you've spent. Its either having the newest shoes, the coolest clothes, the best looking girlfriend or in Mikes case expensive golfclubs. I know it happened when I was 14 and for the case of most of you that was much much more recent then you.
Now, when I was 14 and a whole gang of people started talking bad about me I would have done the EXACT same thing. You'd get your back up and try to defend yourself. Then eventually after thinking it through you would do the right thing *which he did when he apologized*
So basically what all of you fools are doing is basically ganging up on a child with similar interests. You want to make him feel bad about what happened? Congratulations, you probably did. You want to set a good example on how to be a total idiot and how NOT to handle a situation? Congratulations you DEFINATLY did. A LOT of you over-reacted.
This is what Im suggesting. Delete this whole thread, everyone send a message to Mike telling him its deleted and ask him to come back. I bet he's a good kid and he didnt mean to do any wrong by anyone, he acted his age. You've all done it, Ive done it, I'll do it again. You are NOT better then he is, Im NOT better then he is. This is pathetic on how you guys picked on *sorry for saying it mike* a CHILD.
Go ahead, say something negative about me. Kick me off the site. I am going to support Mike *who I have NEVER met* because no one else is.
I love this site, a lot of the people on here are great but from what Ive read Im disgusted by you all. He's young, he made a mistake, he apologized. End of story, lets ALL be adults and give him a fresh start.
Thats my 25 cents (2 cents is MUCH shorter of a post)
