so now that there is an abundance of gmail invites, does anyone actually use their gmail account on a regular basis?
for me, i check my account, but i don't send emails out from there, what i use the account for is when i have large attachments or something i want to save i'll send it to that email, it's quite handy.

I am trying to use it regularly now. I just find it so much better and efficient than Hotmail. You can sort and search different subjects and its just so much user friendly. Also I can receive big files now...hehe *WINK*

gmail is really handy once you get the hang of it. here are some of the features I really like, some of them others have, but it's the combination that makes me rely on it. Not to mention it's 1Gb of memory.
- automatic grouping of email strings with count (also hides repeat texts)
- automatic saving of email addresses to your address book just because you sent an email to that person/org once
- automatic completion of email addresses when you're populating the destination fields
- automatically saves my sent emails (helped out in a few situations)
- easy searching of each folder (actually saved me in a couple of tough situations!)
I had some people doubt how good gmail was until I showed them how easy it was to do some of the things mentioned above.
And no, I do not work for Google... I just like to promote a good product... like how TorontoGolfNuts is one of the best chat forums I've ever seen ;)

all that stuff you can do with outlook long ago, but it's good to have a web version!

It can store large attachment, but it couldn't send large attachment. I tried to send a 10+Mb file to another gmail account, but it kept crashing.

i was able to send larger than 10 mb, maybe it's your internet connection that timed out or something...

Is there a way to extend the 'timed out' limit? I am using XP with Rogers cable.

i can't even keep my hotmail account active... no need for a gmail account. I think as long as you have one account that you use all the time.. there's no need for another.

Exactly, I can check my gmail anywhere in the world where there's Internet. Why be bogged down by a personal workstation? You gotta come up with a stronger reason than that!

I check my gmail, but I think Yahoo is still more handy for me. I like the Calendar and it doesn't delay like hotmail does. I use Yahoo to send all my mails (usually), gmail is used more for storage for me.

Yahoo is very useful.....managing and organizing folders are very useful to me, the layout is very simple yet professional and that calendar function is really useful. They also updated the address book, making it much more convenient now.

Hotmail was my first outside of what UofT gave me. So I've had it for so long, that's how old friends can reach me now.
Yahoo I got mainly to signup to websites that I'm not familiar with that require it.
Now, I try to only use gmail. It's the easiest for tracking information.
I use outlook at work and maintain my calendar there only.
I also use AIM, MSN, Yahoo Chat, ICQ and tried using Trillium to consolidate but I don't like their emoticons...

same problem when i first signed up. tried to send it again later and it was fine. only problem was that the failed attempts actually did send the attachments; 3 copies!!!
been fine since then.
