Hey fellow golfers! Im from Ottawa and i am currently going to school at the University of Toronto. This is my first year living here and so far i am surprised on how many golf courses are in the GTA. I have also found the green fees to be a little more expensive on average as well. I did however, play Osprey Valley (the links style course) and i was very impressed with everything about that course.
Now i little about me, my name is Eric and ive been plyaing golf for a little while now. While I was in Ottawa i had the privaledge of working at two golf courses; Camelot and GreyHawk. For those of you who havent played or heard of them - they are very put together courses and country clubs. I maybe a little biased but I think Camelot is one of the top 3 or 4 courses in the Ottawa area - even value wise and Greyhawk had one of the friendliest enviorments and great people.
Finally, ive been browsing and i get the impression that you guys/gals are equipment junkies like me. My sticks are:

Driver - Titleist 983 E 8.5 w/ Graffaloy Prolite (an amazing driver w/ nice penetrating ballflight)
Wood - Callaway Stealhead 4 wood
Irons - Titleist 690MB
Wedges - Cobra 53 degree Trusty Rusty and Snake Eyes 58 degree
Putter - Odyessy Whitehot #2
Ill prob be getting new woods/hybird, wedges, and putter in the coming months

See you on the course!

OT, welcome to TGN, good to have you here. I am thinking about going to the Ottawa area later this year to play golf. Could you advise some more info about the 2 courses you mentioned?

If you want more selections tell me what your looking for, I can certainly help you with must see courses like Eagle Creek, the Marshes, Le Sorcier.

You can also check out OttawaGolf.com (http://www.ottawagolf.com) and look at Featured courses:rolleyes:

Hey OTtIS, welcome to the forum! I've told this to a couple of newcomers already, and that is if you're interested, apparently a ton of TGNers are going out to a Spring outing to Copetown Woods in April. It's in the "Find Playing Partners" forum. Check it out.

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome...

Greywolf, the courses that noback had recommended playing area all very nice courses in the Ottawa area.

Ems, i will definately consider playing in the Srping outing, but the only thing that might hold me back is school since finals are during April and May...but i think golf is way more important ;)

Hi noback and OT, I have the OttawaGolf.com site bookmarked for research. I am familiar with Eagle Creek, played it once in 2004 while up that way for a wedding, not mine!! :D I liked Eagle Creek a lot and would certainly like to play it again.

Is the Marshes worth the $$, also what about Calabogie Highlands and others in that area? Also where exactly is Le Sorcier? Thanks for the info.

:cool:How much do you want to spend on your round? What kind of courses do you like? Target? Elevation changes? Links style?

Eagle Creek is in a class above the rest. Marshes, IMHO is not worth the $$ but is still a great course to play. Calabogie isnt as nice as those two but still a good track to test your skills. Le Sorcier is on the Quebec side BUT is only about a 30 minute drive from west end ottawa or about 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa. If you are looking for west end courses and like the elevation changes, you could also try Pakenham.

I like all of those especially elevation changes. $$ costs really are not a concern since at vacation times the expense is often worthwhile, and I make plans accordingly. I have heard Pakenham is nothing special but a fun course to play. I think the Marshes would likely be on my play list, who knows maybe only a one time experience for me. I just checked out the site for Le Sorcier, the pics are pretty good, some elevation changes there, a definite possibility.

A hidden gem for sure. My first impressions were that it was "Tremblant course" in my own backyard.:D Maybe if you have an opening I could join you when you come here.

Ok this is sounding better all the time. I love Tremblant and the courses there, Le Maitre is probably my favorite but I like all of them. I am planning on being there in September, I usually take the week with Labour day and the week following, you are most welcome to join us if available.
