with winter around the corner, i was curious as to which type of golf dome they prefer, the ones by the hour or the ones by the bucket?

i myself at first thought i was better off by the bucket, i thought that i wanted to take my time on my swings so that it was a quality swing instead of just getting a large quantity of swings in. but i realize even though i went slowly, it was more worthwhile to go by the hour instead.

I like buckets better because I like hitting outdoors. A large bucket of balls has about 70 balls in it. So when you think about it, do you hit 70 balls in an hour in a dome? I don't think so unless you're a robot or something. But if you plan to hit more than a bucket I would say by the hour. Too bad they don't have outdoor ranges that charge by the hour. Also, its about $20+ for an hour and only $8-10 for a bucket.

I find I like to just keep hitting the balls instead of taking practice swings. Isn't the point of the range to practice in the first place? Well, when you practice like me, you need unlimited!

by the hour you'll get more value, but by the bucket, you conserve the balls but it also makes you think on ways to correct your swing before you hit the next ball. If you know you have unlimited balls, your just gonna wail on every ball till your arms get sore, and you don't stop to think about what's producing that slice, hook or scull......

I like both. I usually go to outdoor range when I am alone. The golf dome at woodbine and 14th has a special for $30/2hours from 9 to 11pm. I usually share the mats with one of my friends.

I think that paying by the bucket is better and I like the outdoor ranges. I agree with Ego that you concentrate more on each individual swing and you don't waste your balls when you have limited balls. It's all about quality not quantity. By the bucket, you can take as long as you want and get your friends or girlfriend to check out your swing and tell you what you are doing wrong or right!

Hey RidetoGolf, not sure which part of town you live on. But if you like the indoor ranges and pay by the hour or half hour, then you might like the Metro Golf Dome (Winter home of the Angus Glen Golf Academy). It's at Milner and McCowan Rd by the 401. Price per mat is for unlimited balls with access to bunker, putting and chipping areas. They have a Friday special from 7 to 9pm that includes 2 hours of unlimited range time and all you can eat pizza for $29 taxes included. Check it out http://www.metrogolfdome.com/option4.htm (http://www.metrogolfdome.com/option4.htm)
