Ok so Ronny and I were just speaking and we have come up with a firm date.

Saturday April 22, 2006.

We will likely start tee times at 11:30 am - 12:00, going off of the 1st & 10th tees.

Ronny will make a list of all players, and set start times in a couple weeks when numbers are finalized. He is going through all the posts right now getting numbers. Once he posts a list of attendees, verify that you are on the list, or if not let him know. If you are on the list and can not make it, let him know that as well so we get an accurate count.

The max number we can get to is around 100, but I'm not sure we'll get that high...it depends if TGN members bring others with them.

Price again is going to be as follows ... instead of going with $47.35 to walk ... we are going to make it an even $50, and we will arrange for some finger foods following the golf for everyone with the extra $2.65 each.

This makes it easier for Ronny to collect money, and whoever wants a cart can pay for it themself in the pro shop. Range balls will be complimentary as well.

Hopefully this works for as many people as possible, but we can not accomodate everyone unfortunately.

Please post in this thread if you would like to play. Please refrain from posting unnecessary comments like how bad you're gonna beat your opponents. LOL. This will help organize the thread a little better so the names can be tallied up easily. Also, as funny as it is, don't need to read up on why everybody thinks Fresh has an innie instead of an outtie. :hush:

So, please post on here if you are playing, if you have any guests, and playing level.

I'll be the first:

Ted aka Westbeach, 1 guest, guest and I will play together.

DEADLINE TO SIGN UP APRIL 9th

I'm in. Could shoot anywhere from mid 70's to 100s. I know that is statistacally improbable but I went through a minor grip change 100 practice hours ago and when I'm on I'm smoking and when I'm off well better not stand down wind.

Yep.....I'm hoping to play well enough this summer to get that lower.

My best round last year was in Myrtle beach, playing Kings North I played the women's professional tees and shot an 83.....ok so I didn't have anything else close to that on my trip..but I'll brag about that one for a while.

Although i will be using the excuse that it is early in the season and when i shoot in the 90s, I won't feel bad. Or maybe i'll use the excuse, it was cold out, too sunny? I'm sure that i will come up with someone to explain my bad play! :D

Someone has jumped the gun on this a bit.The point of this outting is to meet and and golf with new peaple so the foresomes will be made up randomly.Once the groups are posted(April12) PM your partners.Anyone who came out last year will most likely be in a group of peaple who didnt as this was the plan from the beginning.Remember this is not a tournament its a day of fun and meeting new peaple.
Cheers

Ronny, are guests of members going to be randomly paired as well? So if somebody brings their wife or girlfriend, they can be expected to be split up?

No, no .. Guests should play with you ... that is what Ronny and I talked about. I think that no-one should bring more than one guest ... everyone should be coming to this event to meet people and you don't need to meet the people you play with all the time.

westbeach

That's what I figured but from the posts above, it seem like foursomes were being picked entirely random. See posts 33 & 37.

I disagree.

I'm coming to this event because i love the course, and want to play it any chance I can. With that being said ,some of us get rides, and we should be paired up accordingly with our rides. The person who maybe driving me could have other plans after this round of golf and being paired up together is ideal.

i agree...if im making the 2 hour drive to play, I would really enjoy playing with some people that I've PM'ed/MSN'ed before. I understand the intentions of having a meet and greet, but couldn't that take place afterwards in the club house? Like I say, I would really like to play with at least a partially selected group. I understand the difficulties involved in accomidating everyone, but for me, playing with someone that I've talked to a few times makes the round that more enjoyable.

just me .02 cents

Why are you so afraid to play with new people? We can make sure that whoever is giving you a ride will have a tee off time close to yours. If you play with 3 people you have never played with before, that may give you the chance to find new playing partners for future rounds, and maybe more people to give you a ride to the golf course.

If you are going to say you will just book your own tee-time because you can't play with a certain person, I can book you a tee time right now ... how's 8:00pm sound?

I don't really see the problem with people grouping with whomever they wish to golf with and then making the remaining people into random groups. It is everyone's own money here and if they want to play with someone because of a ride, a preference to walk or they just feel comfortable on the course with that person, then it should be their choice.

Ronny, you have to remember that some people will be quite intimidated to be out with a bunch of people they've never met before. What's needed here is a more organized method of getting the correct info from all users. WB was on the right track, by asking who's interested in playing. Not sure if handicaps were neccessary - remember, we're just trying to have a fun day out at Copetown.

I suggest that everyone post to indicate the following:

TGN nickname: akrus
real name: Albert Krusvar
cart or walk: walk
preferred playing partner(s) (blank for no preference):
will participate in the skins game (y or n): n
Guest details:

Now, all an organizer needs to do is keep track of these items in a spreadsheet and then everything will fall into place nicely.

Just some ideas I'm throwing out there as I've had experience in organizing tournaments large enough to dedicate the entire coure to, and know just how complex some of the logistics can become.

Good luck to the organizer(s)

I don't think its about being afraid of playing with other people or not. It's about the opportunity to play golf with guys you've built a relationship with. I've met a lot of incredible people already from TGN and have yet to play golf with ANY of them. I think it's only human nature to WANT to play with somebody you have a relationship with already and not necessarily NEED to be paired together.

Regardless, as far as the pairing's go, it's all in Ronny's hand. I'll just tally up the numbers.

For the few ladies, would you feel comfortable playing with guys or would you rather be paired with other ladies?

Am i one of those wb?? lol

personally, as someone who may be driving ppl, it would make it easier to be paired with them, or in groups fairly close to eachother. If need be, I've played many a round with strangers as a walk-on single, and usually have never had a bad time so I am not opposed to playing with some new people. Some of the most exciting and fun rounds have been with complete strangers. But i do understand where Flakes is coming from.

Good idea Albert. The detailed form will make life easier for sure.

I posted the handicap in there b/c if I was a 40 handicap, I would be very nervous playing with a 2 capper and it also would make for very long rounds if everybody played off different tees.

I'm glad the thread is taking shape the way it is b/c all the different ideas different people have come out with can only add to the outings.

I think that it is great that we are getting this organized early but it is going to get messy soon. There are a lot of people involved right now that will back out of the event at some point between now and the event. I think that we need to hold off a little and see who is interested a couple of weeks before the 22nd. As well, I think that the number of people involved in organizing the evnt needs to be kept to a minimal (possibly Barry and Ronny). If they need any help I am sure that they will gladly ask for it when necessary.:)

Just my two cents....

I think Chad has it right ... too many Chiefs, not enough Indians ... I think Ronny should be left in charge of this, and I will give him a hand with setting things up here at the course.

We won't post any lists of who is playing until much closer to the date, because as Chad said, plans change and it will make it much easier to do it the week before.

Ronny .... it's all yours!!!:D

Okay, after getting numerous PM's basically telling me..."Way to go and thanks for wasting my time" (apparently pairings were already done and it now has to be redone). I'm not going to take it anymore. Apparently, it's my fault that people actually might want to play with other TGN members they already know....which I guess is not allowed. Good Luck Barry and Ronny with the outing. I'm stepping off trying to help out.

BTW, to everybody with ideas on trying to make the outing better, don't bother because there is already a "way of doing things that make good for all of us".

Ted, I see a lot of events happen here, and when too many people try to organize things, it gets over organized and people start doubling up on things etc. I am not running this at all ... I just happen to manage the course that this is being run at. Ronny started this and has dealt with me on the details so far, and it is all set up. If you start trying to get all of these details too early, things will change so much that you basically will have to re-do it all, so it may as well wait.

I don't beleive Ronny is saying step back completely, because their is no doubt, he will need a hand with things closer to the date. Don't take it personally, he's just trying to keep things going how he has originally set it up.

Don't worry about it man!! ;)

YOU quoted ME and then posted your little sob story after. I didn't say that people shouldn't want to help out..it is way too difficult when there are more people involved in organizing something like this. So as I had suggested, I think we should leave it up to Ronny (he has been organizing stuff like this on the site for a while now) and Barry (it is his golf course)!! And the 22nd is over a month away...things will change for lots of people and they will have to back out. I call it right now...a large number of the people that have said they are in...will NOT be there on the 22nd!! That's just the way it goes...suck it up and move on!

I, being a lady :D , don't care if I get paired with men or women. I play from the Whites and dont feel intimidated playing with anyone. I might be nervous at first but by playing with someone who is a lot better than me I might be able to learn a thing or 2.

Don't worry about it man!! ;)

Barry, as explained to Ronny, ALL I was trying to do was organize the list of people coming out to CW. From the other thread in the Finding Playing Partners forum, somebody would've had to go through 8 pages just to figure who's playing. Wasn't trying to achieve anything else. No tee times, not pairings, nothing else. If people request playing partners, early tee times, walking/riding, its has nothing to do with the list of people coming out. I'm sure things will change between now and the outing and I'm sure if your course is opened early, you would appreciate finding out the final figures. As Ronny has stated, he wanted the deadline to be April 9 which after this week is only 3 weeks away.

Regardless, good luck with everything and hope you have a great season!! :)

Ok.....what's the problem here guys? People are crapping on westbeach because he's offering to help out with the organizing of this TGN event? Last time I checked, the PGA is not run by one person but rather collectively by a group of people who pool together ideas to come up with the best plan of action to make things run as smooth as humanly possible.

I for one, will not listen to what one individual has planned for this event and would like to hear what ideas other members have to share as well. If I want to play with WB and his buddies, then I'm going to play with them because I want to and not with others that I've been placed with by what appears to be a "self elected commitee" that I'm not involved in.

I'd suggest a few come down off their high horses and let others in that want to get involved to simply lend a helping hand to try and make this event go over without any hitches if possible. This can't be done by one man alone, no matter how much they think they can do it. The more people we have helping, the more potential we have that this event can be a really good one. I do agree that having too many hands in the cookie jar can be a bit confusing, but let's not leave all the decision making and idea creating up to one person........not gonna fly.

I'd recommend that all we get an idea of right now is, exactly how many people want to play and that's it, which is what appears to be happening anyway. When the day comes to meet at CT, I'm sure we are going to get a number of last minute cancellations or no shows and will have to deal with it if/when it happens. As for how the format's gonna work, we can all join up in our own foursomes and have games on the side and if we really want to, get our usual skins game organized that we play at most of our outings together.

This thread has really turned into something that I thought it wouldn't.....
