Who's in for skins with validation?
Basically, it's skins but you must post the low score or tie the low score after winning a hole to "validate" your skin. I say $10 per person (optional of course) and if there are no winners, the money will go to a charity of choice.

Not sure Barry, I've never been on the sides of golf courses like you have, I'm usually down the fairway waiting for all you girls to take your third shots....:p

If your schooling on grass is in any way a reflection of how you played in the SIMS, then I guess I'm ok for the next few years even with giving you 6 shots aside :D

Ok Ted.....the only charity that my money is going to after a day of playing golf/skins, is in one of your pockets if I end up losing.
Your heart is most certainly in the right place my friend, but I'd like to leave the charitable donations to something else other than a loss at skins......besides, it makes me much happier losing to RR and seeing the smile on his face after he's won $10 of my money........
PRICELESS :p:rofl:

Precisely Frank, which is what you and I will need to go over once you've been fitted for the straps on my tour bag.....don't want it to be too heavy or uncomfortable for ya :D

Skins works like this. Its $20 to get in "THIS IS OPTIONAL" out of the$20 each hole is $1.One tie all tie and the hole is carried over. With the $2 thats left we play closest to to pin on 17.If there is a carry over at 18 All monies go to the winner of the closest to the pin.

For validation, don't you just have to 'par or better' the next hole?
...that's how we play!! Simpler!

I have been playing this format for many years and there is no need for any validation.Look what happend when they tried it with the big boys.So we will stick to the format that works.

Seeing as there's going to be a large number of people that I haven't golfed with at this upcoming event, I'm just going to leave it as a fun day for me and not get into the skins thing. I'm thinking that the whole talk of skins could intimidate those that haven't been out before, so I for one, will just be there to have a good time and not be uber-competitive. Gotta get the newbies comfortable so they come out more frequently. Skins in a random grouping where the other 2 or three members aren't into it, doesn't make much sense to me.

Good point Albert. The skins part of the outing is PURELY optional. Now that I think about it, the skin's game loses its draw if I'm potentially the only one in my group playing for it.

I think I will be out of the skins game aswell. I participated in the skins at Thundering rocks and wasn't even close. I don't mind wagering when I know I have somewhat of a chance. Maybe two teir skins based on handicap? (just a thought)

Hi guys,
I'm a newbie here with a few questions -
Is it normal for people to post a score on an outing?
If so, is Stableford scoring ever used?
Or is it purely a social outing, with optional skins? A skins game can be a lot of fun amongst friends but it doesn't really work with people who have only just met each other...

Hey Pete welcome aboard. This is purely a social outing and the skins are optional. No pressure what so ever or at least that's what I keep telling myself every time I hand over my money to half of these guys I play golf with. :hush:

I was the first one ever to hit the clubhouse ... I skulled it out of the bunker on #9 the first week we were open... bad thing is that the lightning siren just went so the porch was packed, and I hit it above the porch between the dormers on the roof. It came bouncing down off the roof, onto the lawn in front. Everyone was killing themselves laughing that me of anyone hit it.
So then I hit a sweet flop shot to a tight pin ... like 2 feet away and made my bogey annd walked away with my head down!! :D

Actually Chad walked home the big winner last outing.....I missed birdie on 12, he drained it. Will and I have equally shared closest to the pin on 17 and missed our birdies, Chad beat us on the closest to the pin by an inch (I'd like to see the video tapes) and also sank his birdie.
It was a good showing for Chad.......but this weekend he's sick so we'll able to take advantage of this. :D
