PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Seconds after getting an autograph from Phil Mickelson, a young boy decided to talk a little trash to Tiger Woods.
As Woods walked by following his round, the kid yelled, "Tiger, say so long to No. 1. Kiss it goodbye."
The kid wasn't subdued by a Taser (http://www.golf.com/golf/tours_news/article/0,28136,1988001,00.html) or removed from TPC Sawgrass. Woods, meanwhile, showed no reaction. He was more concerned with getting back on track after another mediocre round.
"I hit more good shots today than I have all week," said Woods, who shot a 1-under 71 that left him at 4-under 212. "So you don't turn this thing around overnight and then just go out there and play great golf. This is a process, especially since I haven't played at all. I just need more rounds. Luckily I've got two rounds on the weekend."
Mickelson has a chance to go to No. 1 in the world for the first time in his career, provided he wins and Woods finishes out of the top five.
Mickelson shot a 6-under 66, moved to 9-under 207 and heads into the final round five strokes behind leader Lee Westwood.
"I felt like things started to click a little bit today, and I think I've got one more low round in me," Mickelson said. "I just hope that it will be enough, that I'll be within striking distance."

Sweet... :)

Classless :(

Classless is how Woods has conducted himself over the last 4-5 months.

Classless is how TIger and his management team sucessfully deceived the public and his sponsors for oh......about 5 years.

Classless is NOT what most golf fans want to see from the #1 player in the sport they support.

Did you TIger worshipers honestly feel that he was going to play this year and NOT get heckled? This may have been the first time, but it won't be the last, and I guess each and every heckler will be "classless". Just like how any media person is against him who writes negatively of his actions, just like how all his former sponsors are against him, essentially the entire world should pretend it never happened so we can have our "hero" back. Unfortunately it did happen and it changed MANY peoples opinion on TIger. You see there are golf fans out there who are not willing to immediately dismiss and/or forgive him just so they can watch him on TV.

I only hope he doesn't get heckled on the course because that is a distraction for all the players.....but off the course.....take your best shot, if you are a fan and have paid your enterance fee and are not disrupting the tournament you can voice your opinions.

Maybe a changing of the guards is what golf needs now. A #1 player who supports his wife, loves his family, and is exciting to watch. What's wrong with that?

1) a young boy - 36 years old?
2) tasered for saying " Tigers no longer number #1 ? "

How does the corporate owned media(print) get this incident so wrong and why is a man tasered for making a comment like that? Was the comment impolite or uncalled for? Perhaps - but to get tasered because of them? I don't think so. The alternatives to comments like this are numerous. Are corporations who have decided to continue to use Tiger as a "marketing tool" protecting their investment? It wouldn't surprise me at all!

Agree. Good on ya kid making things interesting. All he's doing is stating the facts. If you can't handle the truth.....well :D I like how people think it's his father...he was probably some 12 or 13 year old kid and the father had nothing to do with it.

Agree, but.

By now we should know that golf is different from hockey, football et al in that this kind of heckling has no place, even if it is based on TW's off and most importantly, his on course behaviour. If the kid was my son he would have been taught what was appropriate as I escorted him to the car for the trip home.

Agreed.

Heckling is not part of golf (that wacky Phoenix tourney excepted).

This incident raises two issues to me:

Is golf changing to become like every other sport? In the past, we never jeered a bad shot, only cheered for good ones. Will golf become like the NBA where a player's detractors go behind the green and wave stuff during approach shots and putts?

Has anyone else been heckled during a round? I don't think I've ever heard of it. What does this tell us about the extent of change to Tiger's image and his future?

Or maybe this is just some dumb bratty kid that needs a good slap.

You must be kidding or have short memory.

People seem to be forgetting the crap Colin Montgomery has had to put up with over the years - especially at the Ryder Cup.

Payne Stewart's classy move brought it to the forefront.

I certainly don't condone heckling by golf fans golf during play. This comment was after the round as Tiger was sulking his way to the scorer's tent. Poor Tiger

BTW, what happened to all of the autographs Tiger was going to sign?

Now he withdraws with a Michelle Wie injury.

Time for Buttercup to suck it up!

Funny, for 10 years this is the same way Tiger has treated the majority of kids after his rounds. finally a kid stands up to him and it's a story. Hey Tiger, this is probably one of the thousands of kids and adoring fans you've snubbed on a consistent basis..... now you're getting snubbed.... how does that feel??
Hey, two wrongs don't make a right, but this is basically what Tiger has done for a long, long time!

Pretty interesting logic there. Him not signing enough autographs is on par with heckling?

Heckling is considered as 'standing up to some one'?

I know I shouldn't write but what the heck go ahead and make your comments as usual but I did want to say that I really think this is more than just hecklers. There was an article and obviously he is receiving serious threats or problems as no one has FBI agents following them around a golf course. Section of article:

The large gallery following Woods dispersed soon after he did. Bohn played the final 11 holes alone—without all the FBI agents dressed in plain clothes, sheriff’s officers and extra volunteers who followed Woods around the Stadium Course all week.

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/news?slug=ap-playerschampionship-woodswithdraws

Very bizarre I wonder if he is getting death threats or something that is affecting him and definately would if he was getting threats. No one wanted that for him but again if that is the case own up to it and just tell the truth. Who knows what the truth or the problem is anymore. He's now the boy who called wolf and you don't know what to believe anymore. Tasering people on courses for heckling, attacking kids for stating things that teenagers state everyday. Any other player and people would say it's not appropriate but really who cares. Aren't they getting a little out of hand in case he has some serious threats and they are freaking because they don't know how to protect him. Very odd. Yes time for those couple of Tiger worshippers to have a hay day.:hush:

When I posted saying I would no longer discuss the Tiger topic, I said that I was sorry for anyone on this forum I may have bashed. I was upset that I was the "victim" of the post/pic of people beating a dead horse.

Anyway......if posting once in a week is obsessive, then I guess I am.

What I don't get is how anyone can think that Tiger is still worth supporting. He has lied over and over again, including today. Do I know for sure he doesn't have a neck injury, no I don't, but no one on this forum can say that he does, and if he does in fact have an injury then why did he say in one of his press confrences this week that he has no injury issues.

Funny how he can play on a broken leg when he has the chance to win, but withdraws when he can't.

Regardless for him to continue at this point is only going to get worse for him. He is obviously spooked right now and needs to deal with it.

Anyway.......the ship has hit the iceburg and is taking on water, if there are people out there that want to think it won't sink go for it. Funny how this entire scandal is supposed to be no big deal and his own personal business yet it continues to go well beyond those paramaters. First with his loss of sponsors, then from his fellow compeititors in terms of his return, and now with his own game.

Every time he opens his mouth he gets into more trouble. You can't believe a word he says and now he can't even go to the one place that did get him away from the media and public eye which was the golf course. Quite sad really.

Two things I know we can agree on:

Class is not cheering on another person's failure who seemingly have done nothing to you and have done nothing criminal. (OK, maybe if you have money on the line.)

Class is not cheering when a kid do something not condoned on a golf course.

Class dismissed. :)

You forgot the 3rd class is not cheating on your wife with 14 plus mistresses and lieing to your children just because they are too young to know, those children who will one day see your career highlights including cheating on their mother with tramps and porn stars, and lieing to those children that are heckling him. You talk about the kids dad on the course maybe the kids dad has taught his son to respect his wife and how wrong it was what Tiger did. The child may have been heckling but it was from Tiger's actions these statements occur.. I don't agree with heckling him but really you knew it was coming, come on in this day and age people aren't going to just let it go. Look at the other recently that have behaved the same manner as Tiger, they are paying for it too. He chose to come out and play and put himself in that position threrefore he has to take the heat too.

^ Amen brother Hogan!

Actually, while I have admired the **** out of his golf game, I lost respect for the guy years ago. You know all that BS fist pumping 'pure emotion'... it's what makes him so great etc...

Well I say Bullshit on that! Buddy that TW is playing with has to put up with that **** any the exalted one hits a great shot. It's been a playing advantage of his for the last whatever number of years. And it's one sided.

The interviews. The guy is like a politician. Only says the things he wants, never directly answers any question. Basically sits there spins the thing the way he wants then walks out. Lies... lies some more... etc...
Plus all the BS about snubbing the fans...

Sure his talent is awesome. But if Elin hadn't clued in last November, the guy would still be strolling around with his nose stuck in the air, lying to everybody, expecting privelege, doinking who knows how many bimbos.

And people can over-look that!? Why!? Are you that shallow, that classless youreself!? The fact that his game can over-ride any personal weaknesses etc... give your head a shake.

The punk deserves a lot more then he's got. All the PGA tour pros walking around gushing about TW, sucking his cock...

Good on the kid for doing what thousands of people are dying to do...

This is golf...why do some people try to draw parallels to other sports? This sport can't compare. That's what brings the true lovers of this game here. This is a gentlemans sport. Sorry, you lost me, not sure what point you are trying to make? (I'm not very smart!). IMO Tiger is the greatest, and will come back to beat all the records... this is good for our sport and creates tons of excitement! This does not mean that I have to agree with his actions in the past. I also agree totally that heckling is not part of our sport, but come on, we are talking about a kid making a comment that has been blown way out of proportion! Crowds have cheered against players for years (usually in Tigers favour), unfortunately that will probably never change.
So maybe we all agree that this young kid made a mistake and Tiger has been making mistakes for a long long time!
Hopefully, Tiger will show the same respect for his fans in the future that we all expect this child to show him.

Honestly, I can't understand why this kid is getting attention. I doubt he's the only person to ever heckle Tiger, and let's face it ... what he said was hardly tough smack talk. It was actually pretty lame and uninspired. I'm dismayed that today's youth can't come up with something clever.

If this is what passes for heckling of Tiger, Tiger has it pretty easy.

Come on the one kid heckler that said after the crowd "Get it in the hole" the kid said "That's what she said" That was honestly funny maybe not nice but hilarious and perfect timing. You knew someone would say something on the get it in the hole screaming idiots. If you watch The Office and you have a teenager you just knew it had to be a kid.

I don't believe for a minute that the guy was tasered for heckling. He was apparently thrown out for his particular brand of heckling, and when he wouldn't go quietly, he was tasered for resisting.
IMO, the root cause of the original heckling was that the heckler was probably over-served at the beer tent. But, given that he's 36 years old and he was probably sober when he had his first drink, then he should be held responsible for his own conduct.

But, for anyone to suggest that he was tasered for heckling is just disengenuous. As Churchill once said, "Just because a heckler was tasered doesn't mean he was tasered for heckling!". :D

I remember back when Tiger played his first Canadian open at the abbey. He hit his tee shot into the water on a par 3. As he was walking through the crowd a little kid around 10-12 yrs old says "nice shot Tiger" in a sarcastic tone. The crowd starts laughing as Fluff stares down the kid as he walks by, my buddy says to fluff, "oooh tough guy". Now we are laughing even harder. That was before Tiger was so special. You had to be there...lol
