Why do you enjoy golf?

I'm sure we've all heard it in the past, golf's so boring, what do you like about it?

I got hooked when I was able to drive a ball straight over 150 yards, now my best is about 190. When you hit one good one (relatively speaking), you're motivated to beat your last best shot. Suddenly I'm hyped on improving my distance, then swing and now my score. I didn't start seriously keeping track of my score until this year.

It's a fun way to compete amongst friends but also against your personal best.

Why do I enjoy golf? Hmm...I'm not really sure. Didn't really start playing regulary until 3 years ago. I grasped the concept of the game pretty quickly and just found it really relaxing and fun hitting a ball around while trying to "bring it to its home". Of course, getting your friends hooked into golfing makes it more enjoyable too. Going out and trash talking or playing for a small wager is always fun. The great weather and nice scenery is another reason. There's something about playing a perfect conditioned course or putting on a smooth undulating green.

it's a number of things.....the scenery, playing with and friendly competitions with your buddies and that all important SCORE!....golf i think is one of the few sports where you judge improvement by one simple number.

I like it because it gets me both frustrated and excited. It's frustrated when you know what you were doing wrong but still stuck in the low 100s. It's excited when you saw your ball hit the green and stopped right beside the hole.

i enjoy playing golf because it feels really good to make a good shot, i get a sense of accomplishment...

also the competition of golf is great, individual scores, no one to blame but yourself...

a well kept course also adds to my enjoyment

and of course spending time with friends makes it enjoyable

it's a great way to meet other golf nuts on the links. i've been paired up with couples when golfing with my buddy at some far away courses just to find out that they are from the gta too. not sure if all golfers are this nice but i haven't had a bad pairing yet!

well except once with stablefordvet. :D j/k buddy.

I think I got hooked the very first time that I got a birdie. It was on an easy par 4 at Rolling hills. From then on...my heart beats a little faster each time I approach the tee. Especially on the very first hole. Golf is the only sport where you are competing against yourself. And no matter how badly you do overall there will always be one memorable hole where you did everything just perfect! :)
