Anyone recommend a good golf movie? Happy Gilmour is famous and hilarious. The fighting scene with Bob Barker is the highlight. I think we all know a Happy Gilmour in our regarly 4somes eh Stablefordvet?

It's boring enough watching it on the Golf Channel. Why torture oneself for 2 hours stuck in the same chair. I recommend Love Sucks with Pete Samprass' wife and the wierdo from 3rd Rock from the sun!

But Happy Gilmour is also one of my favourite comedies.:D

i'd have to disagree with you there, there is too much infomercials and they hardly ever show the pga tour live, mostly the lpga or championship tour or whatever...seems like i get more highlights on sportsdesk or other sports news show...

yah Happy Gilmour is pretty funny, how many of you admit to trying to try that swing? heh...

Golf Channel has no license to broadcast PGA tournament events...they can't get into a price war against CBS, NBC or ABC..that's for sure......however any upcoming tournaments in the PGA, the majors or the Ryder Cup were extensively covered by Golf Central and Sprint Pre-game and Sprint Post-game....they showed all the post game media conferences as well....LOVE IT!

How about Caddyshack? I heard its a good comedy. It stars Bill Murray as a crazed groundskeeper who chases this Gopher around the golf course? Never seen it though. Anyone know if it's any good?

Just as an add on, Rodney Dangerfield (star of Caddyshack) passed away yesterday from complications following open heart surgery..may he RIP.

Also loved in movies 90's movies such as Back to School and Ladybugs....funny guy!

The only golf movie that counts for me is Caddyshack, a classic. Bill Murray's best role bar none.

Golf Channels' usual line up is great "background" TV, but the Big Break reality series is so pro! It's entertaining, but also it's very instructional watching the competitors hit a variety of challenging shots. Too bad the Canadian guy was eliminated early, but his game wasn't close to the better guys that are left at this point.

Just watched Bobby Jones: A Stoke of Genious last night and its a great movie. I learned so much about Jones from that movie, right from when he was born till his retirement from the game. Anyone else see this movie? I didn't realize how many personal problems he had in his career.

i love the golf channel...but yea..i agree....i don't like how they show so many champions/nationwide tour tourneys...and they don't show enough LPGA...boo!!!

I like some infomercials....but some are just plain..blahhh...like the bracelet ones....sooo boring...

I like watching golf academy, big break, what's in the bag? and occasional classics (but not the black and white oldie classics)...I liked Tiger Week too!

as for golf movies...i loved happy gilmour! Isn't Legend of Bagger Vance a golf movie? never seen it tho

Yep! It is a golf movie. Didn't like it that much. GC is great! Love it when they replay some of the great showdowns in the Majors.

CaddyShack was on TV over the weekend. Hadn't seen it in many many years and definitely have not seen it since I started golfing (1997?).
I have a whole new appreciation for this gem and Rodney's comic genius.:D

Hey, does Something About Mary count? Cameron Diaz was hittting balls at the driving range in the movie...jeah. a hot blonde physician hitting balls at the range. see it all the time!

"Healy places a ball on the tee and takes a swing. He tops the ball
and it dribbles about ten yards.

HEALY
Hit a house! Bite bite!
(to Mary)
Haven't swung the wrenches in a while.

Mary nods. Healy takes another swing and duck-hooks one about
fifty yards. Mary addresses her ball, takes a smooth backswing,
and

HEALY (cont'd)
Hey, can you give me some tips here?

She cracks her shot long and straight.

MARY
Yeah, don't talk in someone's backswing."

... words to live by, boys 'n girls.:)
