I've always thought about getting one of my driver heads "re-finished" and clean up the paint job on it. But I'm wondering whether in doing so, does this alter the weight distribution or performance of the club if the paint isnt perfectly spread. I doubt that its possible to spread it perfectly.

Unless you're like stacking the paint on like a stack of Sunday b'fast pancakes yay THICK, I seriously doubt the amount of paint you use to refinish a club can alter its performance. Paint away! They don't make lead based paint still do they? LOL

The guys at Golfsmith might be able to help you. I could have sworn I saw that they do refinishing also.

I repaint club heads all the time. No big deal. You have to remember that you should sand the club head before repainting, so you have a surface that the paint will adhere too. Why do I know this? Because I have done small paint repairs in an auto manufacturing plant, and I know this is a vital step in having the proper finish, and one that does not peel. Preperation of the head is the most important factor in a proper finish. I have also sand blasted some heads that had severe sky marks on them, take the entire OEM finish off and start fresh.
So the paint you add will not add weight to the club head.
Here is an example of a TM510 head I did for one of the London Golf retailers. This head had a scuff mark on the toe. I did not repaint the entire head. I sanded the damaged area, blew it in and then cleared the entire head. Looks like new. If you saw this driver you would never know it had been repainted.

Do you use BONDO to fix up deep gouges from skymarks that can't be sanded off? What colour/brand paint did you use for the TM woods?
