I also found a nice soft bag boy at pro golf discount last spring. They usually run in the $150 range I beleive. But I could be wrong.

Hey Riso, I bought an Insigna last year at Nevada Bob's Newmarket for about $90. Its almost like this one by BagBoy http://www.epinions.com/bags-Golf_Bags-All-Bagboy_T_950_Travel_Cover_92917 Ask for Emmit and he'll take care of you.
Great bag, very padded but lots of compartments. You could even pack all your clothes in there without a suitcase and it has wheels.
Oh, one more thing. Its not hard cover but I thought it did the job of protecting your clubs good enough.

Remember. You CAN NOT pack your golf bag like it is an extra suitcase. They cuold force you to take everything extra out of the golf bag if it weighs too much.
Here is Air Canada's retrictions:
Golf clubs
A golf bag containing no more than 14 clubs, 12 golf balls and one pair of golf shoes. The bag and clubs must be fully enclosed in a hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the item(s) will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing Air Canada of liability.

I picked one of those up. I haven't had to use it yet so i don't know how durable it is, but my bag fit in there and it seems to be pretty good.

They are listed as the distributor for Bag Boy in Canada. I have the Bag Boy soft and think it is great. The hard case also looks quite good.

I might be travelling to the states a lot, contemplating whether or not I should bring my clubs...
Mok: the hard case seems more reliable. For the soft case, I think you have to wrap your clubs tightly and do a lot of other packing to ensure it's ok. might be worth it to spend a little extra for the time you save with a hard case. how often you plan to travel with your clubs?

I have a soft case and you have to tape up your clubs and put clothes in there for extra padding. After that, they're pretty good to withstand the baggage guys throwing or piling things on top. Softcase was cheaper for me and it just simply looked a lot better than the hard cases. If you have expensive clubs get a hardcase.
One note: DO NOT put a lock on your case cause the customs guys will just cut it and sometimes, it means cutting into your case. That happened to me and my friend when we went to Santee, SC last year.

an important note
if you fly and then rent a car
many hard cases won't fit into a small car trunk
even in a minivan the case takes up a lot of room
there are stories of ppl tying their clubs on the roof racks
and having them fly off onto the highway
all the best

I have to agree with Dormie, soft sided cases are much easier to maneuver through an airport and especially fit into a car, and in most cases offer the same protection as a hard sided case. They can also be folded up when not in use.
One of the best soft sided travel bags is the Ogio Straight Jacket

Wow...the hard case looks like the gun cases. Hmm the soft one even looks a bit like a body bag if I didn't know better.
I haven't travelled much for golf yet so I don't think I need one yet. But this is helpful info. Thanks.

Don't count on it. If CUSTOMS wants to see inside, THEY WILL SEE INSIDE!! They will break your case if needed. Its a matter of security.

what i mean is that these locks allow the security to open your locks, only they have the key to open it... check here for more info! http://www.travelsentry.org/
