Looks like they may want to try. I think the course definitely has the teeth to do it if they set it up for a pro event.

+1 for a place where I have friends who live on the golf course!

I've only played it from the blues.. would like to try it again from the back tees to see how it would set up for the Pro's...

I wouldn't drive to the wrong side of the planet to watch though...

why it has a low chance of happening?...there's so much more than a course with facilities...accomodating the wives/GF's and families are important too.

even though Oakville isn't downtown toronto, it's a lot better than the farm land around Coppinwood....Oakville is close enough to the airport instead of the 1 hour shuttle after the late night charter arrives from England.

by 2013+, all the new 5 star hotels will be finished downtown (trump, ritz, shangri-la, 4 seasons) and that will be a big draw for players and entourage.

There's the back tees...and then you look even further back to the champ tees. Those yardages aren't on the scorecard - I don't believe (didn't check).

Do agree with focal re: the logistical issues that would need to be hammered out.

Where there's a will, there's a way. I have no doubt that a great event can be run at Coppinwood if the RCGA decides to go there.

The Invitational is a great event.

As for the set-up, it is typically played with about half of the holes from the back tees, and the other half from the pro tees.

RCGA have visited twice so it is definately on their short list....

Better question is "Is Vince bring Sasha?"

As to the OP, Coppinwood as a course definately has the teeth to host. Accomodations for the players/families is the biggest logistical hurdle. I know myself and P25 would host a player or two - for a fee :D

15 should be played as a par 4 from the 2nd tees from the back. No way that's a "legit" par 5 for tour players. That downhill added at least 50 yards for this hack playing from 519 and I had an iron (not even a hybrid) in my hands for my 2nd shot that I hit onto the green. Day was hot, half club wind at most.

Standing on the first tee deck from the tips is intimidating. It was 260 to reach this slim sliver of a fairway.

HUH?? 13 is WAY more reachable than 15. 15 is a great risk/reward shot if you're going to go at it.

Of the 2 I personally find 15 more reachable, but the fact that you have to hit a cut into the green to avoid the bunker, makes it that much more difficult. #13 is no slouch either, as all the times I've played it that damn pin is positioned right smack in line with the bunker guarding the green. All of the par 5's to me are reachable in 2 from the Gold tee's, my fav tee shot has to be #6, coming over the middle of the bunkers up the left side to shorten up the hole. :)

Me likey #4, driveable par 4. :D

Agree with ya, but somehow I don't think the pros will be playing the golds! :D

I also love the tee shot on #6, and the champ tees are WAYYYYYYYYYYY back on that hole! If it's into the wind, it's a beast!

Such a great course....

Have you given CW a go from the tips yet bro?

Played it last year with Phil and swainer in ideal conditions, was quite the test. The 1st hole tipping it from behind the putting green is super intimidating.

A guy I know who's a member there said that last year, Chinner popped it over the bunkers clear from the back tees on #6 and had 5 iron into the hole for his second shot.

Negative. I'd love to, but man oh man would that be a test! The black tees are long at 7050yds, so I can only imagine what the champ tees would be like.

And then there is the story of the former member who knocked it over the 12th green from the gold tees (that's 370, uphill).

They will have to host other RCGA events before they get the CDN open. The line up is long to host the event across Canada. It is due to go to Quebec.

I wouldnt hold my breath.

Unless the membership gurantees 3 million in corporate sales, it won't happen.
