Hi Lindsay.
I meant to reply to your thread earlier, but totally forgot about it. Seeing your latest post reminded me about it.
Anyway, back to the charity tournament you are posting about, I would assume that donation receipts are given out for this event? If so, what value?
Not that it's a big deal, but I've got friends that will ask questions when I suggest it to them. Only problem area with the tournament is the date. I'm playing two tournaments the week before at Angus and I think I'll get shot if I play yet another one... but hey, you never know...
Whether my regular foursome goes or not, I hope your event is a huge success. If I can't get the regs to go, I will be buggin' some of the TGNers... so lookout RR...

I will check into the tax reciept for you as last year we ended up having one for all golfers but the amount wasnt decided till after the tourny because it depend on the profits and all from the golfers and the silient auction. We are looking forward to filling up this year. I hope you can get a forsome together. If anyone questions you playing three times in one week, just let them know that this is going to a great cause so theer should be no questions lol.
Thansk for the reply

sadly, i too have lost someone to cancer. My grandmother passed away a year and a half ago after a 10 year bout with various forms of cancer. As well, too many close family friends have passed away over the years. I would definitly join in and help out as cancer research is my #1 charity that I always try and help out and donate and volunteer my time for!
since you guys already have a foursome...anyone interested in joining with me?

No one has registered yet. Lindsay's original message says that registration is open until Apr 30th, but I say that we should have our groups in early. Say Apr 17th (Monday after the Easter weekend). That should give us enough time to get groups together. Basically, if you're not paid up by then, your spot is up for grabs.
What does everyone think?
So the current lineup is:
Group 1

I wouldn't worry about the groupings as I'm just making the list up like that and we can sort out the groups closer to the event.

wow you all are amazing. Its really touching that you all want to help, I am sorry to hear about all your loss. However together we can help raise money to find a cure so maybe in a couple of years we wont need a charity tournamnet for cancer. Regestration closes on the 30th like mentioned, we are not full yet, and there is still room for more 4 somes. If you think you need more room then I can hold more sports for you. We are not filled and would like it to be. Its going to be a day a fun and the more the merry. If anyone knows of anyone else out there please pass on the info as the more spots we fill the better.
Let me know when you would like to register or you can go to my site on my profile and register their. Thanks again everyone I am happy about the support you all have given me so far.

Lindsay - my thanks go to you and the rest of the Walking Warriors for making this cause an obviously big part of your lives. I can only speak for myself in that, my support is always "on my mind, in my heart". With the many demands on time, it's difficult to take that next step and be as committed as your group obviously is.
GRT - Whooohoooo!!!! Good to have ya' on board, bud.
duffer_devon - I had a feeling you might join up. Glad to see you're on board as well. With regard to your question about the money/registration, I'll touch base with Lindsay today and see how/when we can all take care of this and I'll post the details here when I know.
Andrea - welcome to TGN - you've taken the first step to a truly addictive forum :D Great to have you here!!

The key to speaking in public arenas is believing in what you are speaking about, and I'm sure there are no worries with Lindsay to that regard. She'll do just fine, I'm sure.

The "Think Pink" movement is about to make its way into the pockets of change-carrying Canadians.
CBC News
http://news.sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/images/Feeds/cbc/CBC_Canada_V2/quarter_pink.jpg
The "Think Pink quarter issued by the Royal Canadian Mint is its second attempt at a coloured coin.
The latest 25-cent coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, unveiled Friday in Montreal, features a pink ribbon meant to raise awareness of breast cancer.
"We do regular research on various themes and this one tested very, very high," said Pam Aung Thin, the mint's vice-president of communications.
"So we approached the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and they came on board fairly quickly. They loved the idea."
A total of 30 million of the new coins will go into circulation, gradually making their way into cash registers and coin purses across the nation.
The Shoppers Drug Mart chain will act as the exclusive corporate distributor of the coins, the mint said, though the mint's normal network of specialty coin suppliers will also sell the coins.
The "Think Pink" quarter is the world's second coloured coin, according to mint officials.
The first was a Canadian quarter issued in the fall of 2004, which was adorned with a red poppy to mark Remembrance Day and distributed through Tim Hortons branches.
- FROM NOV. 8, 2004:
Some people complained that the paint flaked off that coin too easily, but the mint thinks it has fixed that problem. The breast cancer coins were primed before the pink paint was applied, and the finished product was baked.
As well as being used in general circulation, the new coin will get its turn on the runway.
A dozen Canadian fashion designers have been asked to incorporate the new quarter into their work, ranging from travel wallets to corsets.
The 12 items will be auctioned on the Royal Canadian Mint's website, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
The foundation estimates that one in nine Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in her life.

I am very thankful for the spot on the show, and I am overly nerves but I wont chicken out.. I will practise all day and night. A lot of pressure with you all listening I might need a drink or two before going on... ohh wait I will be at work... cross that idea. Thanks again for everything, this is a wonderful cause to support, I know its my 3rd year doing the walk and it gets better and better all the time.
Thanks for posting the coin... my sister actually took one out of her till at work just to bring it home to me, she was pretty excited to give it to me, she is a big supporter for me as well... I had just seen it about a hour before she got home at the shoppers drug mart.
Thanks again for everything, I am looking forward to meeting all of you at the golf tourny, maybe even sooner if I can get a chance to get out and practise my golf!!

Lindsay and I have decided that a get together between those of us with day passes and the Walking Warriors, would be a good idea. The plan is to have a night of playing pool at Dave & Buster's on April 17th at 6pm. During which time, we'll get to meet Lindsay and some of the other Walking Warriors as well as take Farmboy's money at yet another sport...
We will also use this opportunity to collect everyone's golf fee or leave a deposit ($50) to reserve their spot. If the deposit method is chosen, then the remainder can be placed on credit card at Lionhead on the date of the event.
If you can come out to the get together, post in this thread. If you can't make it, please PM me so we can discuss alternative arrangements for your payment.
Thanks.

Devon, we are extremely grateful for the help you are giving us in recruiting golfers. The on air plug is going to help make this tournament a success.:thumbs_up

Is bump a secret code that golfnuts use to communicate, OR
did you deliberately post one word, to see what nut would respond?
If the latter, do I win a prize?

Sorry to bring you people back to the present day, but we are drawing near to the evening of billiards at Dave & Busters and I still don't really know who is going to be able to make it? As a refresher, Lindsay and some of the other Walking Warriors will be coming out to meet the golfernuts that are going to play in this charity. It is also a chance for people to pay their deposit to show their committment to the tournament at Lionshead on the 4th of June.
So, who's going to come out and take Farmboy's money over a couple of games of pool, other than myself and Lindsay - btw, I have heard she may be a bit of a shark...
Now you may return to your regularly scheduled programming.

The 22nd is going to be more than crazy with everyone showing up and milling about - this is more about getting out for some fun and a couple of drinks. I know I'm looking forward to winning my entry fee from Franky at pool, so there's that as well
Earlier, I had asked people that couldn't make it to PM me so that other arrangements can be made - one method being the 22nd. Others may wish to work something else out

Glad to see you're going to join us, Dan. I've added you to the updated list below. Don't worry about the groupings - that will be taken care of closer to the event date. PM charitygolf to find out how you can take care of the $50 deposit, which holds your spot.
Thanks for coming along, Dan.
Lindsay's original message says that registration is open until Apr 30th, but I say that we should have our groups in early. Say Apr 17th (Monday after the Easter weekend). That should give us enough time to get groups together. Basically, if you're not paid up by then, your spot is up for grabs.

I guess I assumed since this foursome was calling for some extra fruitiness, that you'd be right along side them with a pair of pink pants and shirt to match. :p

It will totally still be a surprise! Hopefully you will be able to play. Nothing like setting up a tournament and having to watch from the sidelines.

LOL I think it will be a surprise for everone if I can golf in a mini skirt.... I would love to play in your foursome, but I wouldnt want to slow down your game .. I am sure you want a good golfer on your team. I may still play I want to but seeing as I am leaving on vacation later that month i may need to save my money. I iwll see how things go... Andrea and I want to play, if we are not needed behind the scences then we may just play...

Golfing in a mini skirt doesnt seem like too much of a challenge. Mini skirt and heels? Then you may have some issues.
Personally Id like to have you on our team, give us a bit of class Im sure. Keepin fresh in line.

The b-day celebration I am to be attending that day, will not be taking place until the evening (closer to dinner). If that's the case, then as long as this tourney is over and done with before 3pm, then I may be able to make it as I'd have to drive straight up north afterwards..........stay tuned.
Practice ladies, practice! You've got exactly one month. :p
Ok Lindsay....I am confirming I will not be playing in this event. I tried to work around it, but the 3 hour drive afterwards kinda sealed the deal for me. :D
Best of luck to you guys, I'm confident you will have an awesome turnout!
