Looks
Really nice look to the clubhead. The face is a little shallower for recent TM offerings. The r7 steel I had looked somewhat closed but can be passed off as square to the unsuspecting eye. The top of the crown had a TM logo as an alignment mark which I didn't mind at all. A little longer from heel to toe than the r7 TP f/w. The r7 titanium fairway wood is a little bigger in terms of volume and a deeper face as well. One thing I really like about the r7 Steel which I'm reviewing is the sole design which is build to "pick" the ball very easily. Size wise, I think it looks perfect b/c the reason I didn't like the V-steel was slightly on the bigger side for me. I love my TM200 except for the ridges and find the r7 steel to be perfect for me.

Feel
The club is pretty solid and felt a bit more solid than the r7 TP and my 200 series 3 wood. The ball came off the face pretty hot on the r7 TP while the ball felt like it was compressed a bit more with the steel version. This is basically true for ALL f/w woods in my opinion. This particular club, I reshafted with a Speeder 757 S TP graphics shaft and it felt just perfect for a fairway wood. Felt exactly like my 200 series f/w in terms of weighting.

Performance
Although, I have yet to hit the club outdoors, an extensive launch monitor session gave me a pretty good indication of how the club would preform against the competition. Between the 3 f/w's I tried on the launch monitor, in terms of carry distance off the tee, the r7 TP came first with 231, the r7 st @ 228, TM200 at 223. I took 5 shots with each club and rotated each club after each swing so my final 5 swings would not be a "tired" swing thus skewing the data. Off the deck, the r7 steel was extremely easy to hit and found that the carry distance was the greatest with the steel version. As far as ball flight, the r7 steel provided the lowest ball flight of the 3 from the deck but it can probably be attributed to the shaft I had in it as well. A high kickpoint shaft which lowers ballflight.

Forgiveness
I find the club indifferent in terms of forgiveness from the TM200 but definitely more forgiving than the r7 TP. With the longer width heel to toe than the r7 TP, this should be expected. The club is plenty forgiving for me....a 7 handicapper last year but if you need more forgiveness, I would highly suggest the v-steel as I find it more forgiving.

Overall
I'm sure some of you have heard of the TM200 Tour Smoothie before. This club reminds me exactly of it except it's black, has a logo on the crown and has Movable Weight Technology. OK OK. so it's not EXACTLY like it but it's as close as it comes. Put the right shaft in it like a 757 speeder and it's a bomber. Will it replace my TM200 of 4 years? You bet it will. The r7 steel is a bit easier to hit off the deck and the looks of it is just sooooo much better without the ridges of my TM200. Overall distance is up about 5 yards but b/c my ball flight lowered, this meant I'm carrying it further with a lower ball flight which means I'm going to get more roll. 8 yards more roll to be precise so overall distance gained is approximately 13 yards (According to the Vector LM).

I would HIGHLY recommend this club to anybody who's currently playing a TM200 who didn't have the chance or didn't want to fork out the $$$$ for a Tour Smoothie. Here's your chance to own the very same club but with MWT. The trick is to look at as many as possible to find one that looks semi square.

Fantastic review. I have a TM200 that I love, not that I had it reshafted with a vista pro 80(thanks Scott!!). Will look at the R7 steel, but for the amount of times I hit my 3 wood, its not worth the additional cost for me.

Keep those reviews coming.....any Rac Tp wedge reviews?
