Michele Wie accepted the invitation to the McDonald LPGA championship. It is taking place this year on June 9-12 at Bulle Rock. Wie receives exemption to the Women's US Open and also gets exemption to the Women's British Open at Royal Birkdale. She missed the cut by 7 shots at last weekend's Sony Open. Given that the conditions will be better and the competition less threatening. How do you think Wie will do in the 4 LPGA championships 2005?

After last week's performance with the men, she needs to stay with the ladies until she starts dominating on the LPGA, if it takes 5 years, so be. With the ladies, I think her odds of making cuts are very reasonable. It would be great for the LPGA if she makes the cuts.

It'd be awesome for her to win one of the women majors!

Annika is gonna dominate! Though I think she'll do well too, but probably not in the top 5.

I think she'll put on a better show playing with the ladies just because of the distance and competition. Don't think she'll do too well at the British but wouldn't be surprised to see her finish top 10 in the other 3 tournaments.
Her performance at the Sony wasn't poor. Infact, she showed a lot more creativity in shot making and selection than the previous year when she shot 68 in the final round. Her putter failed her. If she can win a Major, it would be amazing and quite a story.

I may be wrong but Michelle is getting 6 LPGA sponsor's exemptions in '05 and an invite to the LPGA's US Open.
In assessing her current level of play, I would say that she is very good LPGA quality right now and would finish in the top 10 to 12 on the '05 money list if she was to play a full schedule. By age 18 or 19 she will be the dominant force on the LPGA Tour. It seems that her short game has improved and the variety of shots that she uses has expanded. But, and it is a big but, unless you can putt, you can't win anywhere, period. Perhaps during the Sony she putted below her "average," however, ya gotta be able to put the ball in the hole.
It was sad to see her miss the cut, but on the other hand, the tears of frustration and disappointment that she showed will only make this kid more determined to improve. I still say that she will learn more and become a better player, if she fails along the way, than if she is always successful.
In the future, she may be good enough to make a few cuts on the PGA Tour, however, she belongs with the LPGA. She is heiress apparent to Annika and should follow her path.

I think she'll place top 10 in at least 2 of the championships :)
If she's determined, I think she can be dominant in the LPGA sooner than 18.

Hey Mule56, I'd say your prediction is an extremely safe one. Is the top 20 status among the LPGA even considered an accomplishment for Wie? I'll go out on a limb then and give her one top 5 finish and one top 10 finish this year. :)
