This got a lot of negative press on the Golf Channel Discussion Board. Kind of like Columbia House. They were mailing items to people that didn't want it and kept pushing the lifetime membership. Most of the folks found little or no use for the articles that they did receive and almost none renewed the subscription for a second year.
If you have the time to baby sit them and are prepared to document and keep records of all communication, it may work. To me it sounds like too much work for too little benefit.

I signed up and have regretted it ever since. They barrage you with useless mail and the magazine isn't that great. I also started receiving junk mail and I'm pretty sure it was because of the PGA Partners mailings. They must've sold my address to someone. When I tried to use the free PGA tournament ticket I could only use it for walk up tickets. If there were no tickets left I was screwed. I tried to use it at the Bay Hill and got turned away, but used it at the Canadian Open. Oh, and the gear they have you test isn't always golf related. I was sent a small tube of sunscreen which had an SPF of 4. The discounts on golf is alot like the coupon books here in the GTA. The coupons were good monday to thursdays between 9am and 12pm, but only in the months of April and November. In the southern US that's great. In Canada that's almost useless. Considering it's PGA tour sponsored, I'm surprised at how ghetto the whole program is.

I'd also like to go on the record as saying I made the mistake of signing up for this and have totally regretted it ever since. Columbia House Records for golf is exactly the analogy. They keep sending me crap they expect me to pay for. It's a total pain. Talk about marketing scam. Fortunately to send the stuff back all you need to do is write "Return to Sender" and drop it back into the mail. Still, I wish I never bothered to sign up.

Wow I guess it's a good thing I asked you guys about this first. :) It sounds like a terrible hassle!!! You have saved me from signing up and saved me money too. Thanks guys! I hope that you guys can eventually cancel and get them to take you off the mailing list.

I also was a partner of this but as you have so amply put it --found it useless to use and wish I had not joined. The End.

Now - there are two reasons why I've remained as their member - first of all they will provide you with four $10 (US) vouchers which work as discounts for your golf rounds, all it takes is to send them receipt for your round and they will mail you cheque for $10 every quarter of the year ($40 in total) - this alone pays for your membership and makes it virtually free.

The other reason is that they publish directory of people willing to host golf round in their area. This is excellent for those who travel alone for business a lot, can spare some time and want to play on different golf courses. I've never used it as of yet, but I think this is a great concept.

So as for the membership - if it wouldn't be virtually free, I would probably opt out, but this way it doesn't hurt me at all.

Am I ever glad I didn't sign up for all that BS. Once in a while doing nothing pays off.
