Hi fellows - it is officially confirmed - Four Seasons golf course in Claremont (http://www.golf-durham.com/4seasons/) is officially opening 9-hole layout as of tomorrow, Feb 1. Anybody up for a game on Saturday morning?

That is crazy! Isn't there snow on the ground?

I spoke with the lady from the club today, she said that if the weather keeps up and there is no more snow, all fairways will be clear on Saturday. Hehe - there might be frost on the greens - but what do you expect in February?

One good thing though - based on the house rules, you are entitled to free drop if you drive into the snow (assuming you will find your ball of course) ;-)

there should be...I played there before and that part of the region certainly ain't warmer than the rest......but this week looks like a very warm week which bodes well for them.

If I remember the layout at 4 Seasons GC, Holes 1-5 and 14-18 are situated in a deep valley (#1 and #14 both feature breathtaking vertical drops). I wonder if they will reconfigure the upper holes for a 9-hole course? As for me, I would not want to be trekking up and down the slippery valley slopes in Feb, snow or no snow!

You are right, however their winter layout is actually different. First of all, the valley is closed - no worries of walking up'n'down whatsofever, they only open 9 holes for winter. Summer's #10 (closest to the clubhouse, heading south) becomes winter's #1, following up on back nine - winter's #2 (#11) is par 3, then they divide #3 (summer's #12, originally par 5) into two separate holes - #3 par 3 and #4 par 4. Continuing west, there is #5 par 5 (summer's #13) and then you don't go down the valley, but jump up to summer's #6, #7, #8 and #9, all par fours to finish. Not perfect, but remember, you are golfing in Toronto in February ;)
