Make: Mizuno
Type: Cavity Back Irons (3-PW)
Shaft: Regular Steel
Price: $599cdn
Just got it this season and two words... LOVE IT.
Forgiveness: Great forgiveness even with shots that are off-centered. They still go straight and the distance is still good. Of course if you really slice or hook the ball, it won't save you but man for a newbie like me, it makes a big difference.
Distance: I've noticed about a 7-12 yrd increase with my short irons and a full 10 yrds on my long irons. Like I mentioned before, even with off centre hits, distance is a lot better. Use to get around 150yrd with 7 iron, now I get close to 160.
Feel: Even though it is a cavity back design, you still get good feel from them. If you want something that has more feel and control with almost the same forgiveness, then go for the MX-23... GREAT IRONS.
Options: Your choice of graphite or steel(stiff or regular). I found the steel-stiff flex to be a little to stiff for me. I believe they both use the DynaGold shafts. S-300(stiff), R-300(regular).
Overall I would have to say its a great set of irons. I've tried the Callaway X-14 and they didn't compare to the mizunos. Clubs is a personal thing; everyone has their preferences but I just found the Mizuno's were much better in forgiveness and distance.
If you have the money, I would go up to the next level to the MX-23; they are forged irons with a muscle back. Not everyone can afford that price range therefore the MX-15 is a great value for the price you're paying.
