We all know golfers that like to talk about ratings and golf courses and it is very subjective. Like many golf nuts I have done plenty of reading on the subject and spoken to experts whenever I get a chance.
A couple of really educational websites for the subject of golf courses are:
http://www.doakgolf.com/
See the section under essays. Tom Doak is a well known designer and even better known golf design critic. Agree with him or not, he has alot of interesting things to say on the subject in his essay section. His book The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses is a must read if you can ever find a copy.
Another very informative site is the Golf Club Atlas.
http://golfclubatlas.com/Courses_by_Architect.html
Many great golf writers like Lorne Rubenstein contribute stories, interviews adn opinons to that site.
Both are free, I not trying to reroute anyone for profit, just think that golf "nuts" will enjoy learning from both sites as I did.
Hope you do.
