I am the only one who thinks this spring has bee the windiest one they can remember? Sure the temperatures have been a bit cool, but playing in constant 25+ km/h winds is getting tired really fast. I can only recall one day that I've played where the wind wasn't huge factor.

It's just crazy windy! I think I've only played one afternnoon when it was not windy and it actually felt like a warm summer afternoon. Other than that one time, it's been cool, wet and windy. Having a high ball flight is not a good thing in these conditions.

As a serious cyclist, I couldn't agree more. The wind has been so bad that some days I can't even bring myself to stay out for more than an hour as I hate fighting the wind from the west. However, it's fun to average 50km/h with the tailwind.

It was real windy at the first GRT event but the rain held off so we got lucky!

I find it alwyas windy in the spring here in Ottawa, but I agree the wind is definately stronger this year. I dont remember hitting so many drivers off the tee, on par 3's:rofl: into the wind. Never mind the 140 yrd sand wedges:eek:

The weather has been a factor in the number of days I've been out this season already. My weekday rounds are accompanied by my 4 & 7 yr old which means weather I'd play in gets passed over to consider the childrens' comfort levels.
Today is a prime example.

Guess what's in store for us weather wise tomorrow? You guessed it! COLD temps with a high around 8°C, rain and LOTS and LOTS of cold strong wind in the forcast! Aren't we lucky! Humm, I wonder what next weekend will be like? Anyone seeing a weather trend forming so far this season?

probably 30-40km/h winds today in Guelph. I love hitting those low stingers until they start ballooning. Then its just no fun.

I played baseball with the strong wind today... it was insanity. With the addition of the colder temperature, golfing would have been not so fun!

choose a valley course so less affected by the wind. Played 9 holes at Markham Green today and not feeling it...

I was out for some twilight at Ballantrae (when I left my house I was wondering what I was thinking given how open the course is), and while the front nine was pretty windy, it was manageable. The back nine was great as the winds had died down to just a light breeze....

I smoked a drive yesterday at Watson's Glen that went about 170 yards. It just stayed up there and I swear started coming back at me. On the 9th hole, from 160 out I hit a low 4 iron into the wind that was fine for about 110 yards. Then it got caught up in the wind and landed 5 yards short of the hole. For the first time in my life, I played the wind when I putted and it was only a 4 footer:eek:  .

I'm certainly finding putting a bit different too, as the wind is a major factor. Look at the break, look at the grain, check the wind, try to figure out if it's going to prevent the ball from breaking or make it break more.
I'd love to have a day of good conditions to figure out if any of the changes I'm making are having a positive impact.
BTW, I've checked a 7 day forecast for next Sunday, and right now I'm seeing 26 degrees, and 15 km/h winds. I hope I didn't just jinx it :hush:

Today may just be one of the windiest days I haveever seen here before, and that's saying something because it's always windy here.
We have the thick, heavy flagsticks and they are bending over the wind is blowing so hard!!!

WINDY???? I played at Grey Silo (first time) yesterday and it must have been a three club wind. Grey Silo is very open and was really tough in the wind. I remember we had the wind behind us on hole 12, 410 yards and I hit driver and a 100 yard S.W. Then on the next hole, 425 yards, which went back into the wind; I hit a good drive and was left with 215 yards to the green. Of course, I didn't make it. Tough day against the wind.

I played one hole @ Whistle bear today. Deemed it way to windy and cold (Hail didn't help either). We bailed and got a rain check for next weekend.
I have yet to play the course..But for what little I saw I can't wait to play it.

I was out at my home course of Elmira today, and the winds were ridiculous. 70 km/h gusts, and probably a steady 40 km/h wind. Today was demo day  , so I went up to the range and hit a few balls. After about 25 balls, my hands were numb and I deemed that there was no chance of me getting loosened up so I called it a day.
Hopefully tomorrow is nicer.

There is no doubt about it, I'm born and been in GTA area for 50 years and I have not seen a spring that has been this windy in my recollection. It seems to me that I am constantly walking and hitting into 18 holes of wind whenever I get out. I have seen my handicap swell up 3 strokes. But it is still golf and it sure beats cutting the grass

What happened to people saying this year is going to be DRY and WARM....Did I miss that? I think I need to find a job where I work the weekend but get the 2 warm and dry days off during the week!

Played Cooper Creek this morning.... Boy was it COLD and WINDY !!, course is awesome, but we were close to quit a couple of times, wind was the STRONGEST I have ever played with, made some of my drives go 180 Yrds (against) if 320 Yrds (Behind) Windchill made it feel like it was early March...

I hear ya. #17 par 3 was dead into the wind 155 yards. I hit 4 iron well to get there. Normally I hit 4 iron 200.
It was the crosswinds I had the most trouble with. Couldnt seem to get a feel for how much was hurting or helping to guage the yardage. Sometimes the downwind even seemed to knock the ball down making the shot shorter than normal. :help:

Gentlemen, I'm in Muskoka and played Lake Joe today. This is the first time I've ever played in hail/snow/rain all in the same round. This was a tough round and I'm surprise I broke 90, because wasn't expecting to today.

Remembering what I went through on Saturday, I decided not to play on Sunday. Now is Monday (am) and things look much better. I'll just have a quick coffee and off I go!
Remember the rule... every year check the weather on Good Friday, for it is the measure for the whole spring/summer. Guess what was the weather this GF... you got it .. rainy and windy!!!
