My wife took the group lessons at Angus Glen last year. It was $300 or so for 16 lessons (2 lessons/week for 8 weeks). The range facilities are pretty good, and the instructors are good. If you can take time off during the day, try to enrol in the class taught by Mary-Ann. She is an excellent teacher and is often willing to stay late to offer more help. The class sizes are also smaller during day sessions.

Welcome to the forum!!! Great to see new golfers, hope you have lots of patience and time. Though I've been golfing for a number of years already, I recently got a 3 lesson package at Golf Town as a gift. Had one lesson so far from a CPGA pro and he already correct my grip and adjusted my stance to give me more hip turn. I went to the range a couple times already and noticed immediate improvement in ball striking. A 3 lesson package cost $189 plus taxes. A little pricy and I'm sure there are places that are cheaper.

Welcome Latin Divot,

If you work downtown, I recommend Toronto Golf School, Brian there taught my girlfriend and I must say he did an excellent job. She broke 100 in her first year.
He has programs geared to beginners.
If you are not far from the Scarborough Golf Dome their are several instructors who work there during the winter I have heard are good. Laurie from Toronto Ladies Golf Club for example is excellent, she has alot of patience.
What I would recommend is not waiting until spring, take some indoor lessons now so you can hit the course when the weather breaks.
If you want more details, I can provide numbers, etc. Just post a message or private email me.
Enjoy.

THanks for the info pudubny and focker singh. I live around 401/meadowvale area.
Never been to the scarboro metro dome, but i just might go and take some lessons like pudubny says. Any idea how much they would run, also I assume i can use my existing set of clubs? THanks. Your thoughts on Golftown academy????

Hi Latin_divot,
I have no experience with lessons at Golftown. It all depends on the pro.
I am sure that the Scarborough Golf Dome on Milner offers beginners classes. I would recommend a small group class to start. I think it gives you a couple of advantages, you never feel alone and you meet some people who are also at your level.

All the info is there.
I don't know how much group classes cost, I have only taken private lessons.
I not sure I understand your comment on your "existing clubs". So long as they are not made by Fisher Price, they should be fine for learning the golf swing.
Good luck.
Pud.

Hey Latin divot, I am currently taking lessons with Golftown. Truly it depends on your instructor. I go to the one at Woodbine and Hwy 7 and after 1 lesson, he's already changed my grip and one minor thing with my left knee. You also get a video to take home about your lesson. The only thing I found bad about it was how he was so tight on the time of the lesson. 45 min is really 45 min, not one minute longer.

I think putters are a personal thing. I don't like "mallet style" putters either or "2ball" styles. I like the traditional blades and its all about feel. Go to Golftown and try 5 different styles. Some have inserts, are lighter/heavier, shorter/longer...basically, find one that you like and go with it.

putter is definitely a personal choice as Focker Singh stated earlier...you might do JUST fine with a mini-golf putter! heh..
