Well after Valentines day I reveived a $200 GC at GolfTown from the Girlfriend. Wondering what all of you would buy with it?

Couple things I was looking at:

Nike Stormfit Jacket. Down from $450 to $225. (Still a crazy high price it seems)
Sun Mountain Speed Cart. (Love the look and feel of these things.)
New Shaft on Driver

Thanks
TK

New Shaft on Driver

Thanks
TK
For $200 bucks you would get one hell of a shaft for your driver. I would recommend you talk to different people on this board if you wanted to do that, it would save you a lot more.

The other 2 I have no idea. Maybe wait until the beginning of March when all the new stuff is supposed to be rolling in.

I like those Sun Mountain Speed Carts. If I had the cash, that is what I would be purchasing.

Enjoy shopping!

One of those Doc 17 putters from Ping, it's a dual purpose putter, because of its size it's almost impossible to misalign and you can brand cattle with it when you're not putting!

Seriously next time anyone is in Golftown or similar, try rolling a couple putts with this monster. I couldn't miss with it, but dang it's huge! I'm wondering whether the good putting is worth the comments at the course :D

I'd book a session on their launch monitor followed by a shaft upgrade.

New Shaft on Driver

If you want to spend some significant amount of money on a shaft I would certainly not buy it at GolfTown. The have two shafts that are in the $200 range. The Fujikura 757 which is an excellent shaft but ONLY if it fits your swing. Trust me there are a lot more speeders available (553, 556, 651 ...952). Meaning it is an excellent choice but again the 757 might not be right for you.
The other shaft in that price range is an Accra shaft they are selling. BUT be aware GolfTown is selling the old model (grey/white) and NOT the new improved ones. The one GT offers is close to the new Accra SC but still not the same (new one is different shaft all together), no matter what they will tell you. I'm sure Gawain (gbrgolf) or Jeff (swaain) can tell you more.

One more thing, if the shaft in your current driver is working for you ... there's no need to buy a new one. If you think there's room for improvement ... I'd talk to some guys here on this forum first.

Either a hybrid or a 3 wood since I have neither. OR buy randum things like balls, gloves, hats, accessories, rain gear.

As I recall there is no expiry date on these, so what's the rush?

You can definately get better shafts cheaper elsewhere, so I'd be leaning towards the cart. But I'm sure you'll need shoes, balls, clothing, etc. at some point this year, so why not take your time?

Thanks for all the reposnses guys. Too be honest with you. I was planning on getting a Swing analysis done, but not at GT. Probably McMahon Golf, which I hear is pretty good. If someone can recomemmend somewhere else, let me know.

Lot's of opinions on shafts. BTW, I wouldn't spend the whole $200 on a new shaft.

I was thinking about a hybrid club, but can already hit my long irons fairly well, so I'm not quite sure if I would use it that often.

In the end, most likely some random stuff, although that new Spped cart really is tempting. $269 ouch.

I could hit my long irons fairly well also. I hit my hybrid very well though. Much more consistent.

If you walk get the Speed Cart. I've had one for two seasons and it is the best $ I've spent on golf in 38 years.

Well, I would buy a ladies' Callaway watch. When it's the time for your girlfriend's birthday, you can treat it as a gift. Save $$, U know.
