I recently had the way I grip my clubs changed from a lesson I took. After all these years I didn't realize I had such an improper grip of the club. I don't even choke down on my clubs now. I used to choke down about 2-3 inches. It took a few times at the range to get used to the grip but now I'm feeling more comfortable. Anyone know any tips or things I can do at home to get me more used to the grip so I dont' stand at the mat or tee box adjusting my grip for 10 seconds?

Folker,
Put a wedge beside the couch and practise while you watch TV. I went through the same thing, and my coach gave me that advice. It worked.

Good point. I regripped an old relic of a club and cut it about 3 inches from the end of the grip. Whenever I'm on the phone or in long conference calls at work I'll just work on setting up a proper grip.

I do that already, almost broke one of the lights with my backswing :D . I guess it will just take time. Its amazing what a simple grip change will do to my swing. Can't wait to get out there. Thanks for the tips guys.

Hold your club out in front of you horizontal to the ground, toe up, using your left hand alone (assuming you're a right handed golfer). If you can lift all fingers but the middle finger off the club and the club still sits in your hand you're holding it correctly. If it falls out of your hand the club is too much in the palms of your hand and not enough in the fingers and under the pad of your thumb.

An easy way to check whether your grip is too strong or too weak is to grip the club in both hands, holding it horizontal to the ground in front of you, with the toe of the club pointing straight up. The extend/straighten both your arms as far as they'll go (still holding the club horizontal to the ground) and watch the toe. If the toe closes (turns counterclockwise) you're grip is strong, if the toe opens (turns clockwise) then your grip is weak.
