True Temper buys Royal Precision
True Temper Sports Inc. (http://www.bizjournals.com/search/?op=query&q=%22True%20Temper%20Sports%20Inc%22) announced Friday its acquisition of Royal Precision Inc. (http://www.bizjournals.com/search/?op=query&q=%22Royal%20Precision%20Inc%22), a former golf shaft manufacturer.

The Memphis-based manufacturer of golf shafts and bicycle tubing has purchased Royal Precision's patents, trademarks, brand names and designs in addition to some inventory and equipment.

In May Royal Precision announced that it would be ceasing operations. True Temper Sports will now be producing Royal Precision golf products out of its Mississippi manufacturing facility. "Royal Precision has built a strong following for the Rifle and other unique brands," said True Temper CEO Scott Hennessy in a statement. "As their company exited the golf shaft industry we saw it as a wonderful opportunity to add these brands and unique design technologies to the True Temper family of products."

The Memphis-based manufacturer is one of the top golf shaft producers in the world. True Temper Sports markets golf shafts and other sports products under the True Temper, Grafalloy and Alpha Q brands in over 30 countries around the world. The company has over 1,000 employees in 10 facilities in the U.S., Europe, Canada, Japan, China and Australia.

WOW, and about 6 years ago they bought the shaft division of Apollo located in England, then scrapped all of the manufacturing equipment and tooling. More competition gone! I'm a big True Temper steel shaft fan ...

With the Rifle shaft followings, I doubt that TT will kill them off. Then again, they just might to keep pushing their Black Golf stepless shaft.
