Hey Golftown, thanks for not returning my call!!

I needed 24 dozen balls for a tournament asap.

GT didnt return my call (Whitby)
NB had the balls (logod) in 5 business days.

NOW THATS SERVICE

guess theres more to golf retail than filling the floor with retired guys, washed up TV anchors, and 17 year olds with white belts.

cheers NB, we will do business again.

Glad to hear that you had prompt service from Nevada Bob's. Such service will certainly serve them well in their bid to claim more of Ontario/GTA's market-share.:thumbs_up

Given all the business Nevada Bob's does/wins in the GTA, I'm not suprised they had the time to turn around 24 dozen logo'ed balls in your time frame.

Did you try calling GT a second time? Maybe the message was accidently deleted or the note ended up in Post-It hell???

In all my experiences with Golf Town, they have yet to disappoint me.

They're a welcome addition to the Canadian market - it's great to have such a selection and great prices as well.

Who's the washed up "tv anchor"?

Not sure if you are joking. If not, it's Will Ferrel character, the movie 'Anchorman, the legend of Ron Burgundy'

I read so many negative words about GT, and Nevada Bobs for that matter. I am so glad I have a local family run golf store to deal with just outside my home town
:)
I rarely visit either GT or NB in London. So I can not comment on their service. But it appears to me that some of you guys have had some terrible service at the Toronto locations of these retailers.
BIG BOX BIG ATTITUDES !

One thing I hate about NB is their constant expansion and then cutback phases. Open a store, close it. Reopen a store in another location, close it.

I was told by one store employee (years back) that they were closing their Canadian operations...but I guess that wasn't true.

Very poor planning at headquarters.

That's because the bigger they are, the more "coverage" you're gonna hear.

Just on the operations side of things, it is only natural for a company that is 30 times the size of a "family run" store to yield more complaints but it will also mean they satisfy MORE customers based on numbers served.

Me thinks GB is referring to FGO in St. Thomas.

I do like that store, as crummy and run down as it looks, they always give great service, incredible value on your trade-ins and never bat an eyelash when asked to take out equipment to demo on their out-door range. I think they've got a great thing going out there, but they really do need to work on their store front. It's absolutely horrible and wouldn't even have thought twice about visiting them had it not been for several members on this board......... and not to mention it's a fire hazard waiting to happen.

Good for you Albert! Too busy working on the game and working in general to watch movies....:D

Actually, its a funny movie, Anchorman, I would recommend, two thumbs up.

I agree maybe FGO isn't the prettiest and the staff don't wear matching outfits, but the service, value and knowledge more than make up for the
aesthetics. I mean it is a golf store not a restaurant. Also, you cannot find a better selection of used clubs, especially left handed.

Well, that is all in the past, now that the Forzani group is behind their operation (except for the Downtown store!)

I wouldn't recommend it, waaaaay overrated comedy! :(

True statement. However, the "Family Run Store" down here, serves a lot of people! A lot more than you can imagine.

Now I can comment on the London Nevada Bob's, since I was in there this afternoon.
I was in the store for approx. 20 minutes. Not once did a sales person approach me to see if I needed any assistance. One guy hovered around in the background eyeing me like I was going to steal something. That's ok, I did not need their help, and I did not want to spend my money there.

I have enough friends, plus this is a public forum, where opinions are preferred. Just put your PM question in your reply, I can take it.

For the record

Tom Gibney works parttime at GT whitby
NB Downtown was the store, where (despite Rac's comment) last time I checked they are busier than any GT.
Called GT twice,
played with some of the logo balls today, and go figure they go crooked just like regular ones!!

I had an unfortunate incident occur at the London Nevada Bobs regarding my current driver, the Exotics. I brought it in for a reshaft with a shaft I brought...needless to say a kid worked on it who should not have been near the club workshop at all, and took a blowtorch to the head, leaving a nice mark the size of a toonie on the top. Brought it back to show, they gave me a brand new head off the shelves, and did the work the right way. Despite having to make umteen trips to straighten out what I thought was a easy job, they did make it right.

I have experiences with NB and GT..
NB downtown sold me my first set of clubs and the manager there sold me on a set of Adams Ideas rather than me insisting on getting more expensive Callaways that he knew I wouldn't hit well. But on the flip-side, every other time I have visited that store I have been completely ignored (wearing a tie or not).

I spent probably close to $4000 at GT heartland this spring, had amazing service untill I overpaid on an item, tried to return to the store to be refunded the difference, was given a hassle and told that they do not price match what's on their website. Sent an email to their head office, got a reply that afternoon from the store manager who offered to help me out, i didn't get the difference back but i did get my old clubs (13 of em) regripped with some brand spanking new pink winn grips for my GF.. so both stores have been good and bad.. but I've found prices and service better at GT.
