Interesting conditions on Day 1, good play but most of the golfers in the field.

I really like course you can go very low or very high see Kuchar's quad on back 9.

Should make for great viewing on the weekend.

There's a wind storm going through SoCal, uprooting trees and causing widespread damage.

it does get a good strong field for sure.....not sure how long it has been since guys like Fowler , Casey etc have played a competitive round though.

Fowler played in the Australia PGA last week

Casey placed 4th at HSBC in china last month

did you see Tiger's new Rolex?

I was out visiting friends yesterday and did not see any of the coverage.

BTW, Rolex is for ballers, Tag Heuer is for pretenders. :)

The Santa Ana winds influenced play yesterday. KJ Choi and Tiger played extremely well, given the conditions.

"Here come those Santa Ana winds again :note:"

Or maybe not - looks like it is dead calm there right now. Too bad in some ways, 'cause I like to see pros challenged.

They get world ranking points and there is a 5 million dollar purse...That will help just before xmas!

If Tiger can put 4 rounds in the 60's without and inconsistenty I'll almost say he's back.

It seems like putting is still somewhat dicey.

Round 1: 4 birdies in the first 5 holes.

Round 2: His run on 11/12/13 looked pretty darn solid. Putting away on 12 and making bird, while KJ lipped out. Just mean!

The putting is looking good to me, though his par 5 approaches are looking even better.

Interesting fact: Only other player under par in both rounds so far: Ricky Fowler

that flop shot was incredible. it says a lot about his confidence in the short game to take a full swing like that on a 10 yard shot. i was waiting for it to drop after sitting on the lip a la augusta

Wish i could putt

I have been watching a lot of the players swings from Tiger, Hunter, Zach and boy do they ever finish on the left side. Immediately after impact they really turn left.

what a 2nd shot by Zach Johnson on 18 !!!!

not sure about the call after........the subtle Tiger dig by the announcer when he said there's a guy with the least amount of Ego on the tour ( about Johnson)

what a great and likeable guy Zach is , a real credit to the PGA tour on and off the course

What a shot!

Hopefully the final pair put on a shot making display. Some beauty holes on this track.

Nice to see Tiger going full throttle in some shots again. The "Master"ful iron striking is starting to surface.

After all this time...is NBC 'willing' Tiger to win? 749 days since his last win? 749 days since "karma" came to call. Go Zach Go!

Actually, I'm a bit surprised that no one's mentioned the distance between the last group and the group ahead. Everyone's off the course now, and these two are just teeing off on 16!

Looks like Johnson will do a Mcdowell on Tiger. :(

Swing change is almost complete. I think Tiger will (should) spend a lot more time on his putting now.

No kidding - they've each just fixed about half a dozen "ball marks" on the 17th green.

I seriously doubt the 16 players ahead of them left that many noticeable ball marks on their EXACT lines.
