just reading b-daly's post and got a little chuckle from it. (no offense to b-daly :shhh: ) the problem for me is the exact opposite.
during the swing, i've been working on delaying the release for the last year but am having trouble turning the club back to the toe up position after impact.
are there any drills that can help correct this?

are there any drills that can help correct this? If you are able to delay the release to the point where the ball is not squaring up and it once was, then you have achieved something very good. You probably know that most golfers release the angle too early.
Have you seen your swing on video from the face on view? If, when your hands are in front of your right thigh and the club shaft is either parallel or just short of parallel to the ground, you are in perfect position.
This may sound strange but if you stick a quarter or perhaps a headcover in your left armpit and try to keep it there through impact, there is a good chance that the squaring up that you want will happen. If you were previously extending down the line allowing the left arm to open the left armpit(hope this makes sense), the club face will not square up. In a good golf swing, as the hands come into impact, they come around the body and do not down the line.
Another suggestion and perhaps the simplest is to turn your left(top) hand clockwise, a little at a time, until the ball flies straight. Doing this will strengthen your grip( I don't mean grip pressure) and will naturally close the face a little. You may have to adjust this until you get the ball flight that you want.

thanks shadow. once i get the new phone and start hitting outside, i will try to get the face on video. for now, only have the down the line view or risk being hit by the person on the mat beside me.
will let you know how things turn out.
