Is it just me or does anyone else hate Don Valley G.C? Sure, the course is alright, but I can't stand waiting around for 15 minutes on each shot unless you're playing twilight when they've lowered the price by 5 bucks to $60.00

Not only that but having played there lots of times I find that they couldn't care less about the golfing experience. For all they care why not match up some drunk potheads with grandma? The service, food, and pace of play, and price all suck. I had to get that off, sorry to all those D.V.G.C fans.

I think one of the main advantages to DVGC is that it can be accessible by public transportation for golfers w/out a car...it's also located in heart of the GTA.....but since I don't have a transportation problem, I would play many more courses for the price of that green fee b4 I play DV.

I think I will stay clear of that course....unless it opens before any other course in the area, then I need to get my fix anywhere I can.

As far as I know it's $50 during the week and $55 on weekends. I don't know that many other golf courses in the GTA that charge less for 18 holes during peak hours. (frankly the only decent one I know is out in Pickering)

If you play DV in the afternoon it is A. cheaper and B. not as slow as you think. It is not my most favourite course but I certainly don't hate it.

Any course with potheads and drunks in every group ain't gettn my business.

Sometimes its just better to live out here in the sticks.

Whats with the $5 savings for twilight? Can you say "cheap"? Even Glen Abby dropped they're rates by $100 at noon last year. Which is of coarse the only reason I even considered going. I must point out though, they have decent pro shop prices. I thought for sure they would rape you for a shirt. They sure rape you for food at the turn. $9 bucks for a tiny chicken burger. It was good but so small I could have eaten three or four of em. My butt was sore after that purchase.

I agree, last time I played it took over 6 hours. Course conditions have deteriorated since they redid the course years ago. Although right in the city, and convenient, the time you save in driving is spent standing in the middle of the fairway wondering whether or not you will get to hit your next shot within the next 30 minutes. Plus its a dangerous course on the back nine as the fairways are pretty tight and close together..

Thanks for everyone's input. I admit I'm a little sour about the whole ordeal, sure $55.00 for a round isn't half bad, but I don't like spending ANY money on a 6 hour round under a highway with a 25% chance of getting hit by someone else's golf ball. I'd rather play almost any other course, except maybe Niagara Falls G.C.... You need a reliable pair of rubber boots to track through it in the middle of July.

Evening golf at Don Valley is still very busy. If you don't mind saving $5 from $55 and take advantage of the AMAZING twilight savings and have a 5 hour round, suit yourself. :p

Wow 6hour rounds??

We play there early mornings before work, and typical rounds go at anywhere between 3.5 hours (if you're one of the first groups out) and 4.5 hours. It's not a bad track if you get there early enough to play without waiting at each hole.

Are you playing in the afternoons / weekends? I bet that place is a zoo during prime times.

The highest rates are $50 during the week and $55 on weekends, and they are considerably less for seniors and juniors. The twilight rates are $32 and $36 respectively, which MY math tells me is a lot more than a $5 savings.

I'm from Ottawa so I've only played it a couple of times at twilight. A nice, challenging design - there are a few holes that run close together but that is not unexpected for a course in the middle of the city. I got 18 holes in both times in just over 4 hours - pretty good for a course that is always busy.

I don't think those are the correct twilight rates. There's twilight at 2 or 3pm, which is a slight discount. I was using 5 dollars as an estimate, I don't think it's much more than that. There 36-rate starts at 5pm, which is only enough to play like 10 holes, unless you can see in the dark.

I will continue to bash it, because the I find the service crap, the play too long, overpriced, and not worth a nice day. No offence. Just don't like the damn place.

The twilight rates are correct. Most golf courses have their twilight rates start between 4 and 5pm. A few courses also discount afternoon rounds because the course is not as busy then.

The reason that twilight rates exist is because there is an expectation that you may not have enough daylight left to finish a full 18 holes. That is why the rates are so much cheaper. Nevertheless, if you tee off at 5:00 pm in June or July then there is a good possibility that you can squeeze in all 18 (especially if the course is not crowded). As I stated above, I've done it both times I played the course - and I went solo and got paired up with very nice people both times (no potheads or drunks when I was there, but there might have been a grandma - I didn't ask!).

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion - but I just thought you should get your facts straight.
