  • I am looking for a good value near Georgetown - ideas?

I have to scoot up to Georgetown to buy some pellets over the next few days, and I am wondering what would be a good choice for some mid- to late-afternoon golf in the immediate area. Looking for value, a nice walk, good pace of play - everything else is a bonus.

    The floor is open ...

Osprey at 3pm - $65 walking. About 15-20 minutes from Gtown.
    Nothing else compares.

More on the value side - Calerin is supposed to be a nice track. Haven't played it myself.

Nothing public in Georgetown - You can drive to Caledon it's only a 20 minute drive from there. Easily walkable and likely cheap in the afternoon.

If I lived near Osprey, I don't think I'd play anywhere else for those prices.

I've played Calerin a bunch of times. It's 9 holes but when you play 18, the different tee blocks provide completely different angles and sometimes significant length differences. Very nice course and well worth the money as I recall.

Nothing really in Georgetown - I moved here last year... I do most of my last minute golfing nowadays at Calerin and Granite Ridge - both are about 20 minutes away and pretty cheap. Of the two, you'll likely have a quicker round at Calerin.

Osprey is much nicer, but a bit more expensive and a touch farther..

Hornby Glen is an easy walk. I think they are not as much value anymore

I avoid Hornby Glen. Nothing against the course itself... but $58 = too much for that course. $50 Mon-Thurs, $42 twilight. Still too much.

Yes, it's an easy walk... so is the walk down my street.

Calerin can pack a punch on an unsuspecting player. It's good golf without the fuss.

Pipers Heath is $60 before 9/after 3 to walk... excellent value. I'm starting to really love this track. Probably 20 mins. from Gtown.

Damn! I forgot that Granite Ridge was right there - well, right on the way home, anyway. Perfect.
