  • I'm questioning my intelligence

Played a scramble and had my rangefinder with me, seemed like something was wrong with it.
Hit some solid wedges and came up short everytime.

Finally on 18 the pin is on the front and I zap the flag at 115, hit my 115 club and land 5 yards short of the front edge.

Started to think something was wrong with it, ready to buy a new one.

At the range at Copetown today I noticed all the yardages on their sign didn't match with my rangefinder.

220 flag was more like 200 etc and I was standing right on the marker on the tee deck.
Thinking the whole range is off and I should go in and tell them.

Here comes the intelligence part, as I'm leaving I put my bag down and check one more flag, it's still off by 12 yards.

Then I notice on the bottom of the display in the corner a word that is spelled "METERS".

Just so everyone knows a meter is longer than a yard.

I think it's been like this for a round or two.

On the bright side my rangefinder is working fine.

If you're cold, check your thermostat - it might be set to 25 Fred.

I made this same mistake for 14 holes of a tournament while I caddied for my son.
I cost him about 4 strokes that day and a possible win, as he was 1 stroke off the lead.

It's not that hard to do is it?
I thought the unit was messed up because my buddies gps kept giving him different yargages than my Bushnell.
But that wasn't enough of a clue for me.

looking forward to playing tomorrow with less doubt.

Played with one of my friend the other night. It was getting a bit dark, he uses his rangefinder and sees 185... hits it and he is in the trees at the back of the green. He looks at me and ask how far... SkyCaddie says 162 to the middle... He said he probably got the distance to the trees...lol. Great shot, perfect distance and straight.
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

Played until 9:55 one night... Sometime we manage to go pass 10:00... You see Lionel we are not that far up North....lol. There is still lots of Ontario, North of us.

LMK when you come up fishing if you have time for a quick round...

                Re: I'm questioning my intelligence

My rangefinder problem reminded me of a story I read years ago about Raymond Floyd.

His caddy liked to drink a bit too much and they were playing a tournament.
Caddy gives him an approach yardage on the first hole and Floyd pures it and end up in the front bunker.
Next hole different yardage, again hits it perfect and flies the green.

3rd hole he checks the yardage book himself, turns to the caddy and says.
                " WE'RE NOT IN MEMPHIS!!!"

I'll have to make sure I watch out for this. I just picked up my rangefinder yesterday, I can't wait to put it to use.
