    Your LONGEST DRIVE

    What was your longest drive so far? State the conditions.....drives should have landed on the fairway or the green!

    Mine was about 285 yrds.....flat slope on a slightly elevated tee!

    Longest drive

    A recent one iwas Tam O'Shanter 5th holes. 450yard par 5 with a big tree on the left. I hit hook 295 yards up hill on the fairway, 8 iron to the green.

    Another recent one is at Watson Glen, forgot which holes 300 yards par 4 from white tee. Ball landed on the green and ran over. Slight uphill. 2 weeks later, same hole and tee off from Blue. Ball landed right in front of a deep bunker ( 4' high wall ), it took 3 shots just to get it out.

    A longer one would be Westview, Lakehead 9th holes. 420 yard par 4. Drived 330 yards downhill. Sand wedge to the green.

    Driver - GBBII 9 degree frim shaft.
    Mizuno MP01 is on sale at Golf Town which I believe is a better driver. $268.

      My longest drive this year was at Shawneeki. Forgot the yardage of the hole but a downhill drive stopped just short of the pond next to the fairway, 280 yrds.

        I can't remember the course or the condition of the slope. Should be 190 yards and I think the wind was blowing in the same direction!

          I won a longest drive contest in 1993.
          368.2 yards no wind.

            Wyndance #18. Wind was bending the flagsticks sideways. Set up to hit a fade over the corner but it started to draw so thought it was dead and hit a provisional well to just beside the big moon bunker. 6i lay up with the provisional to 100 yard marker. Walked up to hit my approach and saw another ball 65 yards short of the green. Still not sure if it hit the rocks down in the quarry and bounced back up to the fairway or just carried the whole way but it was well over 400 yards.

              The year before last I hit the par 4, 15th green at Lakeview, 305y as the crow flies, over the tall trees and it ended up about 6 feet below the hole. Thankfully I made the putt, otherwise it would all have been for not. Not my longest, but certainly one of the more memorable drives.

                280 at Wooden Sticks on 18. Some wind from the behind but both were just a gentle 5 yard fade. One I birdied and the other I pared.

                  I hit one about 385 at hunters point, the par 5 along the road where the fairway drops down and has a pond to the left of green. Had 125 in for my second shot from the back tees.

                    I think it must have been #6 at Heron Point, par 5 I hit one and had about 110 left in. I think we figured it was about 380-390 at the time, so we must have been playing #6 from the whites which is listed at 491.

                    Way downwind, downhill, super dry. Usually I get it out there anywhere from 250-275 so it was certainly memorable. When I hit it I actually thought I hit it a little high on the face. Was playing with a few buddies that day, so it was fun and we still joke about that shot.

                    I put the approach about 15 feet left and just missed the eagle putt.

                      312 per my GPS

                      Last year I was flirting with a Bio Cell Pro driver for a month.
                      A had spare shaft lying around -> an Attas T2 6X
                      On a Saturday afternoon I epoxied on an aftermarket Bio Cell tip on the Attas shaft.
                      Went out early Sunday morning for a round, having never ever swung that shaft+head combo.

                      It was the best driving day of my life !
                      And I had my longest drive ever -> flat land, no wind, at 312 yards per my GPS.

                      Like all good things in life, my good run with that driver went immediately south after that round.
                      Ahhh but for that 1 round I was able to capture lighting in a bottle !

                        A long time ago (younger age and prior to 2 back surgeries), playing the par 5 #12 at Niagara Falls GC (530 from the blues), I hit the most opportune draw around the bend and ended up with about 170 yard to the green, very little wind.

                        Earlier this year at Rolling Hills #8 (304 from the whites), second shot was 15 feet off the green, also not wind aided.

                          Of my career #18 at Westminster Trails it's a downhill 410 yard par 4. It was about a 15k wind and I knocked it in the middle of the green.

                          This year I think the long drive I hit was #2 at the West Course at Sunningdale... 408 yard par 4 I hit hybrid and had 98 yards left with a 2 club wind at my back. I've probably a handful or 2 of drives 350+ this year.

                            Holy 11-year-old-threads, Batman!

                            I've hit 4 drives of 300yds.
                            Twice each on the same 2 holes - makes me think they were measured wrong.

                            In both cases they were holes of just over 400 yds, and I ended up beside or inside the 100yd marker.

                            Osprey Hoot #3, a straight hole, no corners to cut, 410 from the blues.

                            Station Creek, South Course, 12th hole, blue tees, 405 dogleg left - but the turn is at the 100yd mark and I ended up right beside it.

                            Those were all about 10 years ago, way before I'd ever heard of TGN, and back when I was playing my old TM R540 with a stock shaft and hadn't read the threads about how all the new drivers and shafts are way better!

                              362 #13 at glancaster last year on a hot day with very firm fairways.
